The minimum of -22.3C at Altnaharra (Sutherland) just beats
the -21.7C at Kinbrace (also Sutherland) on the morning of
3 March 2001, and, barring faulty memory syndrome, is therefore
the lowest since the -27.2C at Altnaharra on 30 December 1995.

It often seems to stick around there here. Some cloud and a breeze
spoiled play here.

-9C here in suburban Coleraine and a bit lower than I was expecting. My
old university site would have gone below -10 had any instruments been
there still.

A maximum temperature of only -6.0C is probably more notable today.

I'd be extremely sceptical for a whole raft of reasons.
Presumably the thermometer/sensor was unscreened,
and I'd ask straight away how close to the snow-surface
it was.

It was already minus 8 on the drive home from work at 6:00pm so I thought I
was in for a record, which it was beating the previous evenings -12C,
fog/cloud. But the way it was dropping rapidly I was hoping for much lower.
Thankfully it didn't, my frozen pipes (internal and lagged but in the
garage) didn't burst !.

-11.3C here which I was highly suspicious of once again but given your data
it might not be too far wide of the mark.

Sorry for the late post to this thread. My router went
kaput on Monday and I've just received its replacment.
My min temp was -5.6C on the date quoted above, so
not very exciting in the general scheme of things.
