Why have they got a representation of Pavarotti on there? He died weeks
ago didn't he?

And why have they chosen to replace the "L" in "Google" with him? He's
about the least "L" shaped bloke imaginable. Should have gone for the
"O" instead.

Yes, but his birthday is/would have been today, YTC.

Maybe making him the 'O' might be seen as disrespectful?

I think you'll find that he lost some weight before he died.
In fact you could have got him and a string quartet into one
of his old suits.

I don't see why it's thick of me not to commit to memory the birthday of
a now-dead opera star.

You don't? :o)

Anyway, I only added the 'YTC' because rather than pose the question as
to why he might be shown, you could have just Googled and found the
info within seconds, like wot I did!

You can't disrepect the dead now, can you?

Although the "Pavarottification of Britain" doesn't quite have the same
ring to it.

Actually, the one I'm looking at on my screen does. Not so big as with
uppercase and a bit more to the left, but definitely there.

Fair point - do google normally have an explanation link or something or
do you have to actually google for "what the fuck have you got that up
for?".

I most certainly can. And frequently do.

Add that to my list of crimes.

Hover the mouse pointer over the image, and it'll give you the alt text,
which normally tells you all you need to know. Today, it just says
"Luciano Pavarotti"... No, really...?

So just click on the image, and it'll google for it.

Naah, if he did that he'd miss all of the 'abuse' we give him all the
time, and clearly that's what he enjoys.

Er ... but I don't "abuse" him. In fact I can't recall even mentioning
him for ages. I leave it to the rest of ukrm to point out when he's got
it wrong again. I'm a bit tired of the whole thing, TBH, and it's not
worth getting involved in someone else's mental issues, IYSWIM.

Likewise. I've never subscribed to the "you can't say anything horrid
about dead people" thing. If someones does something nasty then they
have done it. The fact that they have died in the meantime is
irrelavent.

> Add that to my list of crimes.

I'll just add it after the "Repeated use of dodgy dressing gowns" shall
I?

> I shall have pasta tonight and drink too much ...

I'm cooking curry tonight[1]. Chicken Methi, bombay potatoes, spiced rice
and (if I can find a recipe in time) some naan bread. If I can't find a
recipe I'll have to buy some.

Phil.

[1] And good fun it is too. And it tastes nicer than the takeaway -
even if I say so myself. You just have to watch out in case you crunch
