You'd have to be mad to buy a new bike ATM.

OTOH, when has that stopped you doing anything? You've put up with sub-
standard biking ever since the accident, and if you want to spend all or
part of the proceeds on a bike *you* like, and assuming Elly's 100%
behind the deal and you're not in any major money worries, WTF not? It's
only a bad deal if you're going to sell it anytime soon.

You're right man, you're absolutely fucking spot on. I had a T plate
Bandit12, which I loved to bits. It had 1800 miles on it when I got
it, it was only really just run in and I fucking adored that bike -
until the old cunt in the TNT van pulled across the road on me and
took it away for ever. I'd have another tomorrow, if I could find
another one with as few miles on it, in non-fucked-about condition.

I'd not look at a K-series B12 because it is so much softer - no
balls, no fucking grin factor. The Speed Trip is, as you say, what
the K Bandit *should* have been. More power than the original B12,
more torque - and a shorter wheelbase too ... and we know what that
means, eh, brothers. *snort*

>BanditFrenzy

What you need is a signature separator - that would leave nothing to
snip out then, see? dashdashspace<return> - then your sig: that would
work.

I can't help thinking that Triumph have missed a trick that Benelli, by

A good reason not to buy one?

1) Natalie Imbruglia used a Lipstick Pink one in Johnny English

Sorry, couldn't think of any other reasons.

I'd love one, to be honest. But it would just look like a scooter

It's certainly quite appealing. There was a group test of... whatever
they are. Factory streetfighters? ...in Bike this month and they rated
it very highly, although I think I made the right choice with the Z1000.

Still: I definitely think you should get one.

My pal's seems to handle speed in excess of 140 without too much trouble.
Mind you, he does have trouble getting around corners at 40 when both wheels
are in the air.

I read that but it was bollocks. A pal of mine ordered one at the end of
April and I "informed" him that all stocks for 2005 were already sold. So
"all sold out" are they that he picked his up (in the one true colour, but
he's actually changing it) three weeks ago.

I heard the same thing about the Superduke too, but that's bollocks too.

Robinsons in Rochdale if anyone's interested.

Oh, nice. The black one, of course; the blue and yellow ones just don't
work.

But weird as fuck the first time you ride one. The headlights look like they
should move with the bars, being big and "right there in yer face", but they
don't. They produce max torque VERY low in the rev range (about 3- 3.5K)
too, so they wheelie with no trouble if that's your thing. Not my thing
though, I have to say.

New the ktm supperduck is a certainty. Lighter, madder, fantastic
looks.
Want to sort the low level fuelling though, next year maybe.

Save thousands. Last year's 955i moddle, angel grinder, job done.

I saw one with a set of loud pipes on it yesterday - sounded fucking
superb, and they're much better looking IRL than the older models.

I quite fancy one myself, but they're overpriced.

I read a review yesterday that stated: "A 5'8" rider can easily get
both feet flat on the ground at the same time".

Ok, I know you aren't 5'8" - but you've just gained a bit more
clearance in the crutch, aintcha? And if a rider of 5'8" with say, a
30" inside leg can flatfoot both sides, you'll easily be able to
flatfoot one - or the balls of both feet (if you still have them down
there)

There's one round here with Triumph carbon race cans fitted (370 quid
a side, ffs) and the numberplate bracket suitably truncated - it
sounds fucking gorgeous and looks very good too.

the one I saw yesterday had a sortof smaller-than-normal-bore
three-carbon-can under-seat jobbie fitted, with the numberplate moved
underneath - looked pretty smart indeed actually, sort of MV style. The
bike was black, and the black end-cans really looked well.

Ahh, not changing the bike, just the colour (don't ask). He ordered a (coff)
yellow one but they fucked up and sent a black one which he took on the
proviso that he could get the metalwork/plasticwork changed when the yellow
stuff came in. That was supposed to be on Wednesday, so perhaps it'll be
yellow next time I see it.

>
> What's he changing it for (reasons/which other bike)?

He should, but he's not. He's got a Mille Factory too although he slung that
down the road this time last year to the tune of 3 grands worth of damage
and he almost did it with the Trumpet last Sunday. He's not too happy riding
bumpy roads it seems, but he still tries to keep up with faster riders.

It's probably less about the cost of manufacture but what the market can
stand and as the '05 Speed Triples are in short supply (I think) it comes
down to quite simple economics.

Market forces - the Daytona is a bit, well, minging (IMO, obviously)

The Speed Trip is superb though - I saw one parked up in Noho a couple of
weeks ago and wasn't completely convinced, but I've seen a few buzzing
around recently and they look the bomb. I think you need to get one with
the optional flyscreen though - the bare back of the clocks makes the bike
look a bit half-finished (or fully crashed)

I don't know if there's "much" to choose between them. My pals and me ride
"all of the above". Dave's got the Triple, Steve's got the superduke and
I've got the Zed and we manage to stay together most of the time no matter
what type of roads we're on. That is until Dave misses corners and
temporarily goes off-road.

We swap and change bikes too and after a few minutes, the differences are
pretty much accounted for and we're back up to normal speeds.

The Triple just launches with fuck all throttle where my Zed needs a handful
of revs. The Duke stops almost instantaneously where the Triple gets a bit
too light at the back end (for me anyway) and the Zed just keeps on revving
and pulling when both the Triple and the Duke have run out of revs. Mind
you, they both top out at less than 10thou so no surprises there. The Duke's
the king on lumpy B roads, but for me the Zed rules on the fast sweepers and
the Triple just looks "Marlon Brando" cool (in the one true colour that is,
fuck knows what it'l look like yellow)

I put a Vario screen on mine (a tad higher) and it's very effective at
lifting the blast off my fizzog so cruising at 120 is easier for me than the
tow other guys. IMO, none of the bikes are shite although some will say mine
is for ome silly reason.

only a test drive mind, the bike blew me away especially compared to
the usual olde shitt, loved it, but it was rough and snatchy below
3-4k, and I wouldnt buy a bike as a daley rider that didn't pull smooth
from low down - does'nt need to be powerful, but I do'nt want to be
jerked around if Im short shifting in town.

Because they're better looking. It makes the Daytona styling look a
little tired - like a 7 year-old design. I think they'll canibalise
some of the rest of their range anyway, even at Ł8k a pop.

I asked my GF "should I?" when I was looking for a new bike, and the
salesdroid pointed me at the B12 I eventually bought (K-series, which
incidentally makes me grin like a fucking loon - maybe my standards
are lower than yours, Pip!). She just said "do it". I did.

I've told him and Steve told him, but he wants a lairy colour for some
reason. My Zed's orange, Steve's Superduke is orange and I think he feels
left out.

I wonder how long his luck will hold too, considering he's been riding for
20 odd years. His elbows don't work very well (he stands like chimp:) and
one of his legs isn't as it should be, but he still rides like a teenager at
times.

I wouldn't let that Arthur bloke on it either, but it's the first I've heard
of the Superduke being snatchy and it's certainly not been my experience
riding Steve's. "Smooth as a cashmere wotsit" is more likely a better
description. Even from stone cold.

Have another ride on another Duke. That one isn't "right".
