Revealing your CB origins there Andrew. PS didn't like your photo on

Everyone should take a look......

At least he doesn't look like one of those unclean types you see at
rallies, or a trainspotter with a callsign jumper.
Ignore him Andy, at least you are doing something positive
for amateur radio which is more that what he is doing by churning
out the same unhelpful comments about CB, much like a
record stuck in the groove.
Dr.B.
yes and I'll save you the bother of posting your usual remark Ged....

Believe it or not, I'll defend the mode - it's BLOODY good for what
it is. Efficient and robust.
I just don't think it should be *required*, but I can see why some
would think so. I prefer that the rights of the majority are secured
democratically though. We shall see, at WRC 2003.

Yep - plenty to be listened to, joining in is no huge priority.
And yes I am a very lazy person, so what, it's not a crime.
All the best inventions have come about via laziness - an 'itch
that needed to be scratched' etc.
Patience? If all goes to plan I'll have some decades left to enjoy HF.
If something nasty happens in the meantime and I'm in any position
to have imminent or post (?) death regrets... let's just say that
there'll be other things further up the list in my thoughts than
whether I missed out on HF or learnt some old code :o)
Shows just how much you know about low power QRP working. Often CW can make
and sustain a contact where voice cannot. CW has its place in amateur radio
as long as there are those who can and do use it. Just listen for it. It's
more common than you might think.

Yes, but even if they decide in 2003, it'll probably take until 2004
to become official and for the UK RA to catch on.

When you have not got anything sensible to say why open your mouth at all,
best being quiet and let us think you are an idiot than open your mouth and
prove it Radio Ham !

He knows that. His point is (as always) that it isn't a suitable
qualification for HF access. I agree with him.

There are some who believe Morse was really invented by someone
called Vail.
good job he no go for test. he wud fail de numberz :-)
For those that dont know.
MEG DOES KNOW MORSE CODE.
'it' is able to identify voice repeaters by their idents.
and
youre wasting your time trying to persuade 'it' but by all means
try to persuade others that will read your thoughts.

Karen Scott from the RA said at the Open Forum in Edinburgh that it
could take up to 12 months to implement this following the conference.
I challenged this "from the floor" and asked if the RA could/would
prepare in advance for the change - for which I received applause!
If I were a Class-B licence holder and an RSGB member, I would be
asking RSGB to raise this at one of their regular RA meetings.

Nice one! Good on yer!
One of the horrifying consequences of all my months
of failing to learn 12wpm is the realisation that
repeaters send call signs rather than that diddlydah
noise I've known all these years.

In that case they couldn't have been eating horse flesh in

The brief reply was along the lines of "these things take time to
organise". Still, if it gets any of them thinking forwards, who knows?

Alright, when you .... into a movie theatre in Amsterdam, you can buy
beer. And I don't mean in a paper cup either. They give you a glass of
beer. And in Paris, you can buy beer at MacDonald's.
And you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
JULES
They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with Cheese?
VINCENT
No, they got the metric system there, they wouldn't know what the f**k
a Quarter Pounder is.
JULES
What'd they call it?
VINCENT
They call it Royale with Cheese.

Isn't that what the RSGB is going on about with the new licence ?
I thought the discussions they were having with the RA were all about "what
after 2003" ??????
David
Normans, French, Norman-French...what's the difference?
They gave the English an enormous dicking, from which they

'Is our children learning?'
No; the thread was talking about the removal of the Morse code
requirement after the next World Radio Conference in 2003 - and how
long it would take the RA to implement it if the conference decides
Morse is no longer necessary.
The Radiocommunications Agency and RSGB's determination to introduce a
Foundation licence is unconnected with the Morse issue and will be
steam-rollered in well before 2003. Where theres a will .......

Not exactly, it's called "ROYAL CHEESE" (and you can't buy a beer at the
drive of a McDo restaurant in France, because they have no license to
sell alcohol drinks like a shop).
