MARKHAM. - Sir Charles John, 3rd Baronet, died at his home in Nairobi,
Kenya, 5 June, 2006. He was aged 81. He was born 2 July, 1924, the son
of Sir Charles Markham, 2nd Baronet, by his wife Gwladys, daughter of
the Hon. Rupert Beckett, scion of the Barons Grimthorpe. He was
educated at Eton. Career:-->served in the Second World War as a
Lieutenant in the 11th Hussars (and was mentioned in despatches);
Vice-Chairman, Nairobi Co. Council, 1953-55; Member of the Legislative
Council, Kenya 1955-60; President, Royal Agricultural Society, Kenya,
1958; KStJ 1973; succeeded to the baronetcy (created in 1911) on the
demise of his father, 1952. He married in 1949, Valerie (died 1998),
the only daughter of Lt.-Col. E. Barry-Johnston, of Makuyu, Kenya, by
whom he had 2 sons and 1 daughter. The baronetcy now devolves upon his
elder son, Arthur David Markham, b. 6 Dec, 1950.

BRODRICK. -John Alan St. John, who died 4 June, 2006, aged 81, was a
grandson maternally of the 20th Baron Hastings {Baron in the peerage of
England, created in 1290}. He was b. 1924, son of Alan Houghton
Brodrick by his wife the former Hon. Hester Winifred Astley (b. 1899,
d.?) daughter of the 20th Baron Hastings (1857-1904) by his wife the
Hon Elizabeth Evelyn Harbord (d. 1957), daughter of the 5th Baron
Suffield.

Funeral at Mortlake Crematorium, London, on Friday 16 June, 2006.

BREGONZI. -Alec, actor, who was born on April 21, 1930; died June 4,
2006, aged 76.
He cornered the market in television sitcom cameos.

He was often cast as a camp vicar or snooty head waiter, he acted as a
stooge to many of Britain's greatest comedians such as Ronnie Barker,
Spike Milligan and Frankie Howerd, but is best remembered for his work
with Tony Hancock. He appeared in 22 episodes of Hancock's Half-Hour
and toured with the comedian in variety. In 1958 he and Hancock
performed a comedy sketch at the Royal Variety Show.

MARRECO. - Anthony, barrister and human rights campaigner, who was born
on August 9, 1915; died June 4, 2006, aged 90. As a young barrister he
assisted Hartley Shawcross in the prosecution of the Nazi war criminals
at Nuremberg, and he later helped to found Amnesty International

Hospital, Stevenage, aged 81.He was Professor of Archaeology,
University of Glasgow, 1973-90, since when emeritus; he was b. 24 Apr

LINCOLN. - Lady, who died 6 June, 2006, at Pinford End, Nursing Home,
was the widow of Sir Anthony Handley Lincoln, KCMG (1965), CMG (1958),
CVO (1957), sometime British Ambassador to Venezuela. She was Lisette
Marion, daughter of A.E. Summers, of Buenos Aires, and married Anthony
Lincoln in 1948. Funeral service West Suffolk Crematorium, Bury St
Edmunds Monday 19 June, 2006.

who died at Vico Morcote, Switzerland, 8 June, 2006, aged 92, was
Conservative MP for Winchester 1950-64; PPS to th Minister of State for
the Colonies, 1952-56, and to the Secretary of State for the Colonies,
1956-59; Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Foreign Office,
1962-64; Secretary-General, Council of Europe, 1964-69, &c. Husband of
the late Dojean, father of Amelia and Sarah and stepfather of Denny.
Funeral at Lugano Cemetery on Monday 12th June, 2006. Memorial Service
to be announced.

Chief Clerk, Duchy of Lancaster, 1969-92; Extra Equerry to HRH Princess
Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy; died 6 June, 2006. He was 78.

He was born 9 Aug 1927, the son of Capt. Edward Denman Clarke, CBE, MC
(d. 1966), of Binsted, Isle of Wight, by his wife Maureen Cowie Leitch;
and was educated at Eton and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.

Career:-->3rd King's Own Hussars and 14th/20th King's Hussars, 1945-64;
Adjutant, 3rd The King's Own Hussars, GSO2 2 Infantry Division, 1959;
Seconded as Assistant Private Secretary to HRH Princess Marina, Duchess
of Kent, 1961-64; Comptroller, 1964-68; Comptroller to HRH Princess
Alexandra, 1964-69; Member, Court of Assts, Corp. of Sons of the
Clergy, 1987-98; JP for Hampshire, 1971-81.

He married in 1950, Rosemary Virginia Margaret Harmsworth, daughter of
T.C. Durham, Appomattox, Virginia, United States, by whom he had one
son, Charles, and 2 daughtes, Virginia and Georgina.

The funeral service will take place at the Church of St Peter and St
Paul, King's Somborne, Hampshire on Friday 16 June, 2006.A memorial
service will be held later in the year.

WYKEHAM. -Lady, who died 6 June, 2006, aged 83, was the widow of Air
Marshal Sir Peter Wykeham (who died in 1995), and was the former
Barbara Elizabeth Priestley, daughter of J.B. Priestley, OM, the
distinguished writer.
