Dick Clark was always just a hired hand on "Pyramid" -- it remained a Bob Stewart production, with no involvement by DCP.

(By most accounts, both production companies are similarly noted for their, uh, thriftiness. But Bob Stewart did at least pay contestants the money they won.)

Later this afternoon, I'm interviewing someone on the podcast whom I met during my dcpi days. In a unique twist, his chosen meeting place is the site of one of the most notorious celebrity murders... but I hear the food is great.

The late Mr. Clark had a very different temperament on shows where he only served as host, not producer. I experienced both firsthand, and I prefer him as a host.
