... to wish everyone at TV or not TV a very merry Christmas. I've gotten to know many of you both online and even in person over the years. I think this group contains some very insightful, very funny people, and I am privileged to be among you. I hope 2017 brings us all happiness, or at least more TV to complain about. Peace to you all.

2016 has been such a tough year, for the planet, the US, and for many of us personally. I was fortunate not to have lost anyone in my immediate family or friend group, but I know some here have; I did lose my job in June (after 29 years in the same place) part of a year-long, bitter and painful conflict. After six months with some uncertainty I started a new career three weeks ago (staff psychologist at a local well known HMO) where so far I am thriving.

It may seem odd to many (it probably would to me in tier circumstances) that an online community formed around discussing popular entertainment could be a genunine part of important supportive resources, but it is. As much as I like TV, I have always enjoyed more reflecting on it and discussing it with a community of respected others. I cherish the many sometimes illuminating sometimes heated conversations I have had with children, spouse, siblings and friends about television programming high, medium and low; and I also regard fondly the many conversations, this year and for many years prior, I have monitored and sometimes participated in here.

I also second Kevin's hope that all here experience some peace during this season, and that the coming year bring us less pain than the last.

I always look forward to reading the posts from his group.  It is a privilege to be here and i hope all of you have a wonderful 2017. We lost so many beloved TV stars this year, I hope the fates are a little kinder to us next year. Joy and blessings to all of you!
Marti
