NBC may be getting praise for its comedy lineup, but praise doesn't pay the bills, so NBC is now "in transition," as to wean its Community-loving audience to start to accept shows like The Big Bang Theory instead.

You mean a program that people actually watch?  Sorry, but if NBC wasn't in the dire business and ratings position they're in, would "Community" have ever survived to a first season let alone a third?

I have to hope there is a third way here. I can not recall that last CBS comedy I watched, but it was probably Murphy Brown.

I guess the answer is that if NBC was in better ratings position, a show like Community may have been kept as one of a few vanity boutique projects - although probably most of the Thursday night line-up would already have taken up those positions.

Despite my best efforts (after a year I still find the Comcast remote to be clunky and difficult to control) a few commercials for NBC comedies have made it through my zap screen. If these glimpses are at all representative (one about an animal doctor, one with Matthew Perry as some kind of psychotherapist?, one that is apparently a cheap rip off of Modern Family?) then I think NBC is on track to meet its goal (assuming its goal is to get people like me to stop watching shows on their network).

That Modern Family rip-off looks so bad that I am thinking of joining that fundamentalist Christian group just so I can contribute to efforts to keep it off our television sets.

IIRC, Matthew Perry plays a sports talk radio host in group therapy on "Go On", but I'll grant you that some of the commercials make it look like he's leading the group.
