I believe that you should be able to use TurboGears 0.9a9 and the
latest released version of SQLAlchemy (0.2.8). However, there are a
host of features in TurboGears that are not yet supported if you choose
SQLAlchemy at this stage. Mostly, CatWalk and the Model Designer will
not work with SQLAlchemy yet.
However, its a great glimpse into the future of TurboGears.

I am somehow in a deadlock now (as I need schema-evolution support).
Will take a break from the evaluation and will continue after a few
days of rethinking.
