Dear All
I am relieved to read Vinnie's email ............ I too was worried by the minutes:
(a) £10/hr seems high rate of pay for planting seeds - we only have £70 in the bank and won't be getting much income for a long time
(b) having chickens is a big responsibility and commitment - security (from foxes), letting them in/out, feed/supplements, parasite control
(c) Fifield is a long way for many local Maidonians to collect veg or volunteer digging
(d) I personally would feel very unhappy to set up a standing order knowing I would not get anything for it for the first 3 months, and would not expect my friends to do so
Sorry, I don't want to throw a spanner in the works, I just feel that I have to express my concerns ....... it's very different from the original plan of growing veg next to North Town Moor!
See you next week
Gilly

Hi Verona / Asa, having read the minutes and having spoken to Verona I afraid that you might be taking on more then you both can chew. To open up ground acts as a stimulus for growth allowing and light and water in, which feeds dormant seeds to come to life and the pasture which has not been exposed for a number of years is likely to have a large seed bed of unwanted weeds docs thistles etc.
Asking people to contribute money to support the project is all well and good there is no mention of what they get in return and you can not promise them anything until you have a planting plan , a crop rotation.
In essence a business plane to grow commercialized veg Organically And it has to be Organic otherwise it does not fit in with the TTM structure.
If you do not plan to grow anything until next spring I would suggest, located a piece of land which can receive the benefit of the majority of sunlight for the best part of the day, Plough, cultivate and sow a green manure of your choice to build fertility over the winter for the first veg crops of spring. ( needs to be done asap before the ground cools down ) Which will allow you time to do some research and prepare for march / April of next year TTM will receive money in Oct for training please submit a letter asking for financial assistance for TTM and for you to attend a course which will help you plan Crop rotation up to £500 ( if my memory serves me right.) There is an ideal opportunity for you to get help in formulating a plan coming up next week as TTM are giving a presentation to the horticulture soc. Why not present the idea to them.
As I am not able to attend.
Cheers
Vinnie
