Anyone ever get these? I had a sensitive spot by the bunion on my foot
that was getting irritated. It finally blistered so I started taping
it. After a long, wet run yesterday, I came home took off wet socks
and holy hell (!!) I now have a huge blood blister. Hurts and is
gross.

Any advice? I bought some moleskin, but the thought of applying a
sticky backing to this mess and taking it off sounds like it could
cause more problems.

Its gross, but I always lance my blood blisters.  I find it relieves the pressure and pain and then I can place a bandaid over it and let it heal that way.

Ask Andy about the blister under his toenail and what he did with a paperclip.

I have always found that lancing blisters is the best thing to do, it's the easiest/fastest way to relieve the pressure and the pain will usually go away immediately. Adding material on top of a blister will only add more pressure when you put shoes back on.

Good luck, and please send pictures.

I was afraid of this. I googled and everything says ice and leave alone.

Perhaps after much wine consumption tonight I will attempt the lancing. Happy Valentine's Day to me! No pics- it is really nasty! Makes me want to throw up.

This is what I get for not running trails.

Lancing... such a noble sounding verb. I agree though, just pop/lance/prod/gorge/imaple the sucker, apply disinfectant and cover with a band-aid.

I'll also jump on the lancing bandwagon. I recommend using some rubbing alcohol on whatever you are using to lance it to kill any nasty bits, and do it in the bathtub or somewhere else easy to clean if it's a big blister.  I'd also let it air as much as possible when sanitary to do so, and to cover with new skin when not.  (New skin is much better than band aids, in my experience...)

Coconut oil or Neem oil are good to kill those nasty bits.

Took care of it. Instant relief. I hope I never deal with one of those again. A regular blister is just fine- the blood takes it to a new level.
