The message "Error getting list of tiddlers, click Cancel to try
again" is returned when I try to import tiddlers via the backstage
"Import" function.

I've successfully imported several plugins over the past month using
the backstage method - I've no idea why it has stopped working.
Neither adding by URL nor the redefined feed option works any longer.
Manually importing tiddlers works fine.

Any suggestions?

If you are not alreadt doing so
try copy and paste the url from the browser of the tw you want to import.
I find the find file on local drive doesn't work too well.

I've got exactly the same problem, and I've also tried to import
tiddlers on a remote server, without success. Also, when I try to
update the core (I know that there isn't a new version, I was just
checking), I get an error instead of a message stating that TiddlyWiki
is fully updated.

I'm having the same problem. To make it more interesting I was in the
process of importing tiddlers from my old TiddlyWiki (2.2.5) to a new
empty one (2.6.2) and had imported a bunch and was in the process of
importing the plugins I wanted from the original websites when it
happened. I thought that perhaps one of the plugins I'd imported had
somehow broken my TiddlyWiki, so I went back to my read only copy of
the empty 2.6.2 but it can't import from a web site any more either.
Importing from my local on TiddlyWiki still works though.
I was using FireFox 5 for the entire process.
While I'm writting,m the importing of my old tiddlers would have been
a lot easier if there was a list of the tags at the bottom of the
Import area and clicking on a tag would select all tiddler with that
tag. Does nayone know of a plugin that adds this?

I've downloaded fresh copy of TW 2.6.2 and backstage import doesn't
work. I've tested this using Firefox 5.0 and Chrome 12. I'm bemused:
a) if it's a problem with TW 2.6.2, then why did my first install
work, before breaking last week, b) if it's a problem with updated
browsers, or javascript, then surely more people would be reporting
it.

@Alex:
I understand you to mean this:
Try entering the URL to the desired plugin tiddler into the URL box of
the backstage import popup; saving the plugin tiddler to your local
drive, then entering its filepath into the URL box of the backstage
import popup doesn't work.
I've only ever tried the former. Have I misunderstood?

@Ian:
Given you 1st encountered the error while importing plugins, I tried
disabling all plugins to test for an incompatibility issue, with no
success.
When you say "Importing from my local on TiddlyWiki still works
though.", do you mean that you can import tiddlers from one local tw
to another local tw by entering the pathname into the "URL or
pathname" field in backstage import? That doesn't work for me...

I've replicated this issue in Firefox 5 and created an issue
https://github.com/TiddlyWiki/tiddlywiki/issues/38

If you have further information about other browsers the issue effects
please update the ticket. Please monitor the ticket for ideas of when
it will be fixed and what the problem is (if interested)!

Best wishes
Jon

Hi Peter.

I tried disabling all plugins, I tried using the original unmodified
2.6.2 version I'd downloaded and I tried restarting FireFox in safe
mode, all without any improvement.

When I say I can import form my local tiddlywiki I mean I can import
from my old 2.2.5 tiddlywiki. they are both access directly, rather
than being on a web server somewhere, and are both in the same
directory on my local hard drive.
