Hi:..I've always used TiddlySnip with previous Firefox . but on
upgrading ? to FF 3 , I can't get it to work.
I've installed the latest Beta ( which they say is compatible ) but I
keep getting an " error : wrong username or password "....which I know
to be untrue :-)
Any clues ???

No clues other than to say I have FF3 working ok with the 1.21 beta
version of TiddlySnip. I will say however I am not ready to move to
FF3 for my day to day use. Life is too short to be doing the final
quality control for every version of every program.

How can one download the 1.21 beta version? TiddlySnip.com only has
the earlier version. I found the beta on the code page, but don't know
how to download & install it.

I'm glad I've got the old FF on my other computers, but I'd still like
to get some version of TiddlySnip on the one with FF3.

Thanks very much for any help you can give.

I just downloaded the 1.21 beta version and can confirm that it
doesn't work w/ FireFox 3 for saving to tiddlyspot. I get the error
username or password do not match. From another post on the tiddlywiki
google group, it sounds like this functionality works w/ FF2 but not
FF3. I don't want to go back to FF2 due to the performance pluses so I
hope this can be fixed in tiddlysnip, which I think is a must-have to
efficiently use tiddlywiki's to organize information (there's so much
of it on the web! :)).

Thanks!

Did you actually have FF2 saving to TiddlySpot? Could you send me the
details of all the preferences? I want to see if I can duplicate it
as a starting place.

No I haven't tried w/ FF2 (I only found out abt Tiddlywiki last week
after I upgraded to FF3). But as I mentioned, a poster on the
tiddlywiki google group did get it working w/ FF2.

I had TiddlySnip working with TiddlySpot in FF2, worked great! I miss
it now that I've upgraded to FF3, just too lazy to go back to FF2!

Here are the settings I had working:

Under General Tab - File Location:
http://TSusername.tiddlyspot.com/index.html

Under Server Options Tab:
Store url: http://TSusername.tiddlyspot.com/store.cgi
File name: index.html
Backup directory: blank
Upload directory: blank
Username: TSusername
Password: TSpassword

Where TS = TiddlySpot. I found that you had to put "index.html" after
the url for the TiddlySpot file even though you don't explicitly enter
that to access the file online. That took a bit to discover the first
time I configured TiddlySnip.

Maybe this will help!

Thanks for the very complete instructions Steve. It worked first time
in Firefox 2.0.0.14 Now I've seen it work on FF2 I'm ready to give
FF3 a try at some later time after it's matured a bit :-)

Thanks again.

Why don't you find out which version you've tried. Maybe we can pin
down the change in Firefox that's causing the problem. I'm guessing
it happened in 2.0.0.15 as well as FF3 if so we are getting close
since 2.0.0.14 is OK.

1) Correction : it works fine!! Great. Now I can access whatever I did
on my home PC from my office PC...
2) I have FF2 2.0.0.14
3) Do I understand I should NOT upgrade to 2.0.0.15 for it to go on
working?

Thanks a lot for a great tip.

2.0.0.15 works fine with tiddlysnip + tiddlyspot.

a) Works with 2.0.0.15 too
b) Would it be possible to rename this thread? becomes quite confusing
with the other 'FF3' thread + my other question 'saving snippets to
TSpot', isn't it?
Cheers
