A lot of people have asked for it, so I've uploaded the most recent PDF to the github site:

http://cloud.github.com/downloads/tjweir/liftbook/master-20090309.pdf

As always, please send any feedback (except for spelling at this point) to the group:

http://groups.google.com/group/the-lift-book

Thanks,

Derek

You guys are phenomenally productive! I've printed out the book and
reading it.

I'm still sufficiently ignorant about Lift that I can give you
feedback from a beginners
mind point of view. As I don't fully understand it, what I can do is
tell you what
confused me, and see if it can be clarified.

The content on page 8 has given me the most grief over many re-
readings.

(1) That lift looks for index.html first of all makes sense. But why
does index.html
consist of a snippet? While the default.html file looks more like what
the initial
page should look like. No doubt there's a perfectly reasonable reason
for it
to be around this way, and it would help a great deal if it were
spelled out.

It's as if Lift pushes the index.html snippet into default.html,
rather than pulling
index.html in from default.html.

(2) The paragraph beginning "In our case we have two elements ..." is
very dense with
information. It may help to break it out into two or three paragraphs,
and perhaps some
of that information could come after the index.html and default.index
stuff is explained.

I hope this helps.

Regards, Mal.

I've added in a task on our end to work on these sections. The short answers are:

1. The lift:surround tag does "push" index.html into the default.html template
2. I'll look at that and expand it.

Thanks!

Derek
