setting custom buttons on the remote

thanks to everyone who helped me figure this out. I wanted to
summarize everything people told me plus what I learned on my own.

it'sstraightforward to set up custom buttons, you just go to advanced
in the settings then type in the label and the code to send when you
hit that button. hava has its own set of codes to send, it's not the
actual code that the box expects. hava translates the code into the
box's code depending on hava remote code which you must already have
set (or your remote won't work at all). I have a motorola 3416 with
comcast and used remote code c1376 which seems to work fine.

if you look at the hava PC viewer and bring up the remote, there is a
button right at the top which has the type of remote and a little
pulldown arrow. click on this and you get a list of all the commands
you can send. the command codes are in the same order as this list,
but some of the command codes are missing from this list. so if you
count down from the top you won't get the exact code you need. here
is a list of some of the codes I have found. by starting with these
and counting either up or down you should get close to the one you
want, then you just have to try them and see what they do.

6 volume up
7 volume down
27 rewind
28 fast forward
29 record
30 skip forward
31 skip backward
32 live
33 menu
36 exit/cancel
44 page down
48 day up
