Hi Stefanie,

The proposed Thunderbird ESR is still out and discussed. As a reminder,
we're thinking about following very closely the Firefox ESR model.
We've had positive feedback on the proposal as it is today, put aside
the need to have ESR released at fixed calendar dates, which would mean
adopting a 52 weeks release cycles.

Although the initial document was proposing to start the ESR cycle with
Firefox 8, i.e Thunderbird 8, it seems that the Firefox team is still
debating with the community the greater details of a possible
implementation. As a consequence, we're now thinking about postponing
Thunderbird ESR 1.0 until Thunderbird 10 is out (concomitant with
Firefox 10/Gecko 10). TB 10 is due on 20/01/2012.
