Leh: Flash Floods Situation Update as of 14 August 2010

Hi All,

Sphere India URS team continues to coordinate the humanitarian response to Leh, Flash Floods. Subsequently, A coordination meeting was held at the Conference Room in the DC’s Office in Leh on 13th Aug at 5pm. The outcomes of the meeting were:

*      Updating list of affected villages and

*      Sharing and discussion of Ladakh Recovery Framework draft document (attached) which are ‘guidelines’ for the recovery and rehabilitation activities of agencies.

*      Formation of sectoral working groups. These groups will coordinate among themselves to finalize strategies for their respective sectors. The sectoral working groups and their composition is as follows:

Sector

5.       CASA/MFH – Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO)

1.       MSF-Holland, Save the Children, Leh Nutrition Project

As the District Administration has provided an assurance that sufficient food supplies are available, it was agreed that this group would primarily carry out surveillance of food security and nutrition issues.

 

 

*      The sectoral groups would try to meet among themselves on Monday and the common coordination meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th August at the office of LEDeG.

 

Also, please find attached the following:

*      Updated list of affected areas as of 14 August 2010

*      Mapping of humanitarian agencies working in Leh (Who’s working, where and on which sector) as of 14 Aug 2010

*      Draft Recovery Framework for Ladakh Flood Relief and Rehabilitation

 

 

Humanitarian agencies are requested to kindly provide their feedback/suggestion for the recovery framework.
