Hello SolrNet Community,

I just wanted to let you know that an e-commerce site that uses Solr & SolrNet at it's core for search, browse and faceted navigation has just been released into the wild:

For those who are interested - here's a little background:

- We ran the project using Scrum, delivered in 20 weeks: 10 x 2 week iterations
- The core architecture is based on the S#arp Architecture framework (we added support for multiple databases, ViewModels etc...)
- Integrated other OSS projects into the solution:
  - N2CMS
  - Spark View Engine
  - xVal Validation Framework
  - AutoMapper (for entity / view model mapping)
  - PostSharp (for cross cutting concerns - logging, performance counters, caching)
  - MBUnit / Gallio for our BDD Framework
- Over 700 BDD Specs
- Solution performs very well - 1000 concurrent users per web server, generating around 180 pages per second across 2x single quad core 64bit servers.

I wanted to say a HUGE thank-you to everyone in this community for creating such a wonderful .NET interface to Solr - it's been an absolute pleasure to work with.

/Howard

That's very cool, thanks for sharing!

By any chance, are you using the new NHibernate integration?

Here's a couple of free suggestions:
- Hide the facet parameters in the URL... it's more SE-friendly.
Examples: http://www.breakalease.com/ http://jobhits.co.uk/
- Again for SEO reasons, change at least the page title and h1
whenever the user selects a facet. See how I did it at http://www.breakalease.com/
- Provide multiple facet selection, especially for prices, so that
people can select a wider range. Again http://www.breakalease.com/ as
reference.

Cheers,
Mauricio

Wow - thanks for the ideas - will put them on the backlog!

No - we haven't used NH integration as the actual search work was done a while ago - before you had developed that feature - but it's something to look at going forward!

Again thanks for the framework and tips!

Jonathan,

If you're using Solr.NET & IIS, you can use IIS URL Rewrite: http://www.iis.net/expand/URLRewrite

It requires IIS 7 to install.
