strikes twelve to commemorate another year of freedom? Who will you be with?
Here are a few tips on where to be to usher in the memorable day on August
30 (Sunday), as well as August 31 (Monday) itself for the celebration.
1. A toast to freedom
Round up your favourite friends and hit the bar for some household music as
you countdown to the toast for independence.
Over at the Republic Bar in Sunway, Mickey Morphingaz and DJ Ra are going to
rejoice Malaysia's 52nd with some hip hop, R&B, soul and electro, while over
at Laundry Bar is another round of party towards the fireworks in the sky.

2. Do the Merdeka dance
Not one to sit still, especially during the hours leading up to such an
eventful day? Perhaps drop by Zouk Club KL for a night of red, yellow, blue
and white! Zouk is known for their crazy parties, so you are bound to have a
good time if you decided to stop by their Merdeka party.

5. Eat! In the name of freedom
You are not a true Malaysian until you have an appetite for good food.
Another way to usher in the most important day for Malaysia is to, well,
eat! All around town, there are a bunch of Merdeka food promotion going on.
Over at Mandarin Oriental's Cascade Restaurant & Bar there is a poolside
feast. Savour on a delightful selection of barbequed and grilled meats and
seafood as you countdown the night with every bite you take. Taking
advantage of the gorgeous KLCC skyline, there will also be a spectacular
fireworks display just as you are stretched to the brim! The feast starts

on August 30 with a wide spread of local and international cuisines that's
meant for a true blue Malaysia. From 7PM till 10PM, the sumptuous feast is

For those expecting a Merdeka Eve hangover on August 31, fret not, there are
a few F&B around town to head to for a cure.
Never mind the early birds (I doubt there will be any on that day, anyway,
heh) because Nikko Hotel's Serena Brasserie is preparing a Merdeka Hi-tea,
offering a dazzling array of delectables, from the buffet spread to choice
delights preprared ala minute! Opening their doors from 12PM till 4PM,
Serena Brasserie's Merdeka Hi-tea is priced atRM50++ per person. Call them

Di-Atas Brasserie at The Legend Hotel also has a treat for Anak Malaysia of
all ages. Discover the rich palette of Malaysia tastes with dishes such as

4. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!
Not one to party and drink and eat like it's 2009, there are a fewMerdeka
celebrations going on too on Merdeka Eve and Merdeka Day too. On August 30,
head to the Bukit Jalil stadium for theAmbang Merdeka celebration chock full
of performances by local music celebrities and traditional dances. While on
Merdeka Day, the annual Merdeka parade will take place bright and early
atDataran Merdeka downtown. Be sure to head there early to secure a good
seat with a perfect view of the grandstand, where the Prime Minister and
other VVIPs will be at, and also get a good glimpse of our nation's pride
and joy marching down the stretch too.
