WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #248 APRIL 28 - MAY 5, 1996

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg.): No tropical cyclones.

North Indian Ocean Basin: No tropical cyclones.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone Jenna (TC-28S): TC-28S formed near 5S 95E on 1 May.
Initially moving south-southwest, the system turned southwest on 2 May. This
motion continued through 4 May. The cyclone reached tropical storm strength
on 3 May, then it reached a peak intensity of 55 kt while turning south on 5
May. At the end of the summary period, Jenna was continuing south at its peak
intensity.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.
