WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #93: MAY 9 - 16, 1993

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

North Indian Ocean Basin: No tropical cyclones.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone 27P: Tropical Cyclone 27P formed near the Solomon Is-
lands near 6S 156E on 13 May. Moving initially southwest, the system turned
west-southwest the next day as it reached a peak intensity of 45 kt. TC-27P
continued west-southwest across the eastern end of New Guinea on 15 May. This
caused weakening of the system, and it dissipated the next day near 10S 144E.
Although this system affected the Solomon Islands and New Guinea, there are
no reports of damage, casualties, or significant weather.
