WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #86: MARCH 21 - 28, 1993

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

North Indian Ocean Basin: No tropical cyclones.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E): No tropical cyclones.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone Roger (TC-22P): At the start of the summary period,
Roger was moving southeast with 45 kt winds. Roger continued southeast and
became extratropical on 22 March near 26S 172E. Although Roger affected
several islands off the east coast of Australia, there are no reports of
damage or casualties at this time.

Tropical Cyclone Prema (TC-23P): A tropical depression formed near 12S
173E on 26 March. Moving initially west-southwest, the system turned south
later that day. The depression continued southward the next day as it
reached tropical storm intensity. Prema turned southwest on 28 March as it
reached hurricane strength. At the end of the summary period, Prema was
moving southwest toward the New Hebrides Islands with 80 kt winds.
