WEEKLY TROPICAL CYCLONE SUMMARY #76: JANUARY 10 - 17, 1993

North Atlantic Basin: No tropical cyclones.

Eastern North Pacific Basin (E of 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Central North Pacific Basin (180 Deg. W to 140 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

Western North Pacific Basin (W of 180 Deg. W): No tropical cyclones.

North Indian Ocean Basin: No tropical cyclones.

South Indian Ocean Basin (W of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone Colina (TC-10S): A tropical depression formed near 11S
69E on 14 January. Moving initially southwest, the system reached tropical
storm strength later that day. Colina turned west-southwest on 15 January,
and it continued this track through the end of the summary period. Slow
developement continued through the rest of the summary period, and at the
end of the period Colina was packing 50-55 kt winds.

South Pacific Ocean Basin (E of 135 Deg. E):

Tropical Cyclone 09P: Tropical cyclone 09P formed near 12S 150W on 11
January. Moving west, the system reached tropical storm strength and a peak
intensity of 40 kt the next day. TC-09P turned south-southeast on 13 Jan-
uary as it weakened to a depression, and the system dissipated on 14 Jan-
uary near 21S 152W. This system may have affected several of the Polynesian
islands north of Tahiti, but there are no reports of damage or casualties
at this time.
