I have a 15 year old Maytag gas dryer (model number DG 482 W) that has
suddenly started to cycle on and off in roughly 30 second increments.
I don't think it's a heat buildup problem since it starts cycling
immediately after it's turned on. I've checked the ducting, and
everything is clear. The flame is a nice, bright blue.

Any/all suggestions are appreciated.

Jim,

I am not familiar with this model dryer so take my comment with a grain of
salt. Sounds to me from your description like it may be a defective
temperature feedback sensor dropping out before the unit gets to
temperature. The fact that it does not stay off and cycles back on would
indicate to me that the high temperature safety cutout device is still
working correctly. Do you have a schematic of the control circuit? Check
all of the devices that are in series (timer control, temp sensor, door
sensor, etc.)

Good luck!

Bob
