Yoiu're getting more irritating than those you seek to castigate. More than
75% of the replies I see from you betray the existance of stuff (spam,
crossposts, FUD) I wouldn't know about because my ISP server has decent
filtering. Please, get a hobby other than pointless spam amplification.

For example, to replace the MAX1724, check out the LTC3525. The LTC
part is smaller, uses the same quantity and size of external
components, and has much higher efficiency and better output regulation
(conveniently not shown in the Maxim performance curves), while the
output ripple is significantly lower. The LTC part also offers more
sophisticated features such as output disconnect and the ability to
regulate Vout even when Vin>Vout (a neat trick for a boost converter).
Some other cool parts are the LTC3531 and the LTC3526, just to give two
more examples. For buck converters and chargers (both linear and
switching), the list of LTC parts you can choose from is so long I
wouldn't know where to start. In my opinion, Maxim hasn't really come
out with anything new in this arena for some time. (And - in case
you're wondering - I'm not an LTC Marketing guy!)
What are your input, output, and load requirements?
Happy hunting,
Dave
