scalr specific components in base image

Hi,

What are the Scalr specific components in the base image? I'm trying
to build a customized ami (not from a shared role; I need a CentOS
ami). From a preious post I understood that ssh should be running in
the ami. What other services are needed? Do I need to have smtp or
rrdtool in the base ami?

I installed both the packages. Now what happens is I can bring up and
terminate instances from Scalr. But the state is not getting updated.
It always shows pending. It shows the correct instance id and all.
Also the "uptime" and "placement" have correct values.

I tried with a prebuilt ubuntu ami (role www) and everything is fine
with it. So I think I'm still missing something in the CentOS ami.
Please help me.

You also need to add /usr/local/aws/bin/instance-init.sh to
initscripts.
For example, add a line containing this script call to /etc/rc.local
file.

Thank you, think I'm almost there.
I get the following errors when I run the script
