Nagari Combo, Oct 23-24

This 2-day trek adheres to all members in CTC - from beginner to moderate to advanced to extreme trekkers. After a very long time we will be exploring the less known Nagari hills again located North of Nagalapuram with peaks that reach altitudes of 1050m (200m above Nagala!) - there will be 3 campsites and 5 different levels from easy to extreme. There are no entrance criteria for this trek - everyone is welcome to join. Red ribbons will be put across the entire trail (till campsite 3) to show the way so everyone can proceed independently at their own pace. Core CTC members will be spread across the entire group to ensure safety, first aid, communications and guidance. There will however be strict cut off timings at each campsite in order to proceed further - once the yellow flag is raised at each campsite the later arriving participants will not proceed further to the next level.

nagari.jpg

Level 1 (cuttie paapaa)

is a relatively easy walk along an old jeep trail with a few smooth ups and downs between 200 and 400m altitude. It's a walk in the open without much forest cover so climate (sun) will be the main challenge. End point is campsite 1 at 300m altitude near a temple located near a scenic waterfalls and pool inside a beautiful lush green valley.

Level 2 (periya paapaa) -

is a moderate trek which proceeds further without pre-existing trail above the waterfall following a steep ascent over boulders and dense forest inside a narrow gorge till it reaches the grasslands where we set up campsite 2 at an altitude of 450m. Trekkers will need to refill their bottles where the water disappears underground.

Level 3 (mountaineers)

those with sufficient energy left continue the climb up the hill along a small rocky trail used by the local villagers to collect dates in the mountains. The trail climbs continuously up the mountain and leads to campsite 3 at an altitude near 800m. The campsite is located in a beautiful flat grasslands nearby a stream surrounded by wild forest.

Level 4 (survivors)

nothing stops the survivors which soon leave camp 3 and any existing trail to get into unexplored terrain walking over rocks and through unmapped forest further uphill towards the highest peak at 1053m altitude offering mind blowing views on the surrounding plains 800m below and the nearby Nagalapuram mountain range. Get ready to be stunned.

Level 5 (Predators)

after the survivors call it even and return back to campsite 3, the ultimate warriors of the jungle will climb across yet another 3km of very rough high-altitude terrain towards the Western most peak at 900m which has never been explored before and offers splendid views on the Southern plains before returning back to campsite 3 well after darkness....

111 members signed up in just 4 days for CTC's second multi-level combo trek to the less explored Nagari mountains. At this rate we will no doubt break the previous record of largest trek in CTC's history. Many of the participants are aiming for the highest levels... Just like our recent Nagala West Combo trek, it's gonna be great fun again with different campsites and different locations and mind-boggling views from 1000+m altitude.... The question that remains is.... when are you signing up?

265 souls have concluded that there is an important question to be answered on Oct 23-24 - what's your level?. Are you a healthy bugger that can walk over 6km of rolling hills to reach Nagari campsite 1 near a scenic refreshing water fall? Are you that "above average fitness" type of person who does not scare away from a steep 2km climb over big boulders up till the 2nd campsite at a breezy 450m altitude offering awesome views on the entire Nagari range? Or maybe you are that Mr or Mrs super fit who will continue following that Belgian navigator further up till 1/10th of the hight of Mount Everest at 850m where we set up the 3rd campsite? You might even find out that there is a hidden athlete inside you that leaves the known trail and proceeds further through bushes, rocks and grasslands reaching the peak at 1053m (level 4) altitude grasping for oxygen. Or could it be that you are the glorious gladiator who will walk across the entire Southern peak range of Nagari and be awarded the highest level 5? Only one way to find out - sign up here Only 1.5 weeks to go.
