Hi folks,

Just planning the next Ruby Ireland meetup. How about grabbing a room in the Trinity Capital hotel again at 6.30 on Tue Jan 19th? Could meet up in the lobby from 6pm onwards for a drink to start.

One item on the agenda will be what to do about the Ruby Ireland site and also please shout if you'd like to give a talk on the night!

Regards,
Declan

Here comes the format for the next meetup...

6pm (at the lobby down near the bar) Drinks and Caviar Canapés (ok, I lied about the canapes!)
6.30pm Move to the room + a bit of faffing and chit chat
7pm Simple intro to Machinist, a nice alternative to fixtures (http://github.com/notahat/machinist)
7.30pm Newbie questions + dig into a tasty platter
8.00pm Building a simply static Ruby Ireland site using Heroku and rack
8.30pm Feedback on making Ruby Ireland better
8.45pm More faffing, chit chat, drinks
2.00am Leave Copperface Jacks and get taxi (ok, I hope this doesn't happen!)

Sound ok?

I'll do the Machinist talk. Anyone that wants to do the Heroku/rack slot is more than welcome, otherwise I can do that too.

If someone would like to give a talk (or a lightning talk, like a 5 minute thing) on any topic then we could do a lightning talks section.

Ciao,
Dec

P.S. If anyone else reckons they'll show up then please +1 (if you haven't already done) now to make logistics easier. Again not essential, you can just rock up on the night.

If anyone's up for it, I've written a couple plugins / gems that I'd
be happy to give a quick talk on / how they work etc.

Ya. I'll give a quick update on how this is progressing. Finally
managed to get some more work done on it this weekend :-)

That would be great Paul. Do you want to do so at the Jan meetup?

Here was the draft plan

I propose that you do your talk at 8pm (for whatever duration you like) and then we can just do the "Building a simply static Ruby Ireland site using Heroku and rack" casually amongst the group thereafter.

What do you think?

Regards,
Declan

Hi Declan,
Just posting an event on http://IrishDev.com
Do the Ruby Ireland group meet on any regular date - ie, the third
Tuesday of each month?
Best
