kernel.org seems to be rejecting connections every so often. I'm starting to suspect its a load problem on the servers, even though they say it isn't. My guess is the server runs out of memory and randomly kills a connection. :-|

I am having the same problem you had. Is the "android2" hack still
working for you? And just to be sure I understand what you did, I
assume what you meant was adding to /etc/hosts a line such as
