Both are versatile quarterbacks who can run. The comparisons end there,
though. Frazier is the quarterback of the best team in the land.
Flanigan may be the best player in the world.
So far, they have one common opponent -- UCLA. Nebraska trounced the
Bruins in Lincoln, 49-14, while SMU lost a hard-fought game at the Rose
Bowl, 17-10. But a look at the quarterbacks' stats is far more revealing
than the final score:
Frazier: rushing -- 7 carries, 29 yards
passing -- 5-11, 59 yards
Flanigan: rushing -- 12 carries, 74 yards
passing -- 20-29, 301 yards
No contest. Frazier is pathetic. Nebraska won because of a great
tailback and an offensive line that could play on Sundays. SMU, with no
running back and an offensive line that is a sieve, almost pulled an upset
because of Flanigan.
Frazier's previous game was also mediocre. Against Texas Tech, he managed
84 yards rushing, but was 5-15 passing. Flanigan's last game made his
superiority clear, as he put up a double triple against New Mexico:
rushing: 22 carries, 113 yards
passing: 19-29, 187 yards
The stats also fail to show that he eluded a heavy rush and threw the
game winning touchdown pass with :03 to play. SMU wins *because of*
Ramon Flanigan. Nebraska wins *in spite of* Tommie Frazier. Ramon
Flanigan *deserves* the Heisman.

(Special note: On the advice of Tony Dorsett, Flanigan has changed the
pronounciation of his name from RUH-moan to RAY-moan.)

You seem to be forgetting something crucial... With two and even
three players keying on Frazier, everyone else (Phillips, Childs,
Benning, Mackovica, etc.) were left one-on-one or one-on-zero. He
runs the offense. Charlie Ward was not the best QB either... But he
was great at running the best offense. When an offense runs for 450
yds/game, passing is irrelevant. Actually, Frazier is probably the
3rd best QB in the Big 8 (behind May of KSU and Stewart of CU). Tha
has little to do with the Heisman, though.

He sounds dumb. You haven't said anything to refute that, but have:
[X] Made a subtle accusation of racism
[X] Made a typo
[X] Capitalized a word for no apparent reason
[X] Let one of your lines shoot off into the >80 column sunset
I think somebody just joined Air McNair in the "sounds dumb" department...
(gosh, this looked like an Aggie Of The Week form for a while there!)

Gee, Mike, I didn't know only a typo, Cap & column snafu could qual-
ify me for Aggie of the Week. I thought it was something really
worth winning, I thought you had to do something really stupid, such as:
[X] Call someone dumb who doesn't speak my northern, white boy dialect
[X] Try to change the subject from the foot in my mouth to someone's
typos
[X] JoePa RUTS Baby!!!

You have no idea what you're talking about( surprise, surprise, a PSU
fan with no facts). I'm not a McNair or a DIV-1AA fan but McNair
was fully qualified and hitghly desired by most Div-1 schools.
As with many black students, he chose a "black" school for social and academic reasons.
Don't call someone Dumb unless you have a clue.

Well, that's interesting there, son, because I've lived here in Florida for
all but ten years of my life. That's twelve years, in case you're wondering,
which appears (judging on your postings) to be a longer span of time than your
existence on this planet!
> [X] Try to change the subject from the foot in my mouth to someone's

See my other posting, where you tried to deflect the criticism of Terry Dean
being allowed to throw irrelevant passes to pad his Heisman statistics to
Kijana Carter, who rushed a grand total of about 11 times against Iowa for
a whopping ninety-something yards.
PSU: They don't pad their Heisman candidates' statistics.
I stated in another post that all I'm doing is applying the same
standards to PSU that PSU fans are applying to UF. By my standards
neither UF nor PSU RUTS.
You're too lazy to even pick up a Sunday paper and look at the boxscore
and make a factual argument. All you do is make baseless charges without
support.

: 5 of 11 is impressive? Wow! What do you think of 5 of 7? Kerry Collins for
: Heisman runner-up! (behind Ramon)
Ah, now I see. You have quarterback-a-team confused with a Peewee Punt, Pass,
and Kick competition.
: >Nebraska is a tough team to defend
: >while they are running the option.
: Pbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt. That's not because Frazier is a good quarterback.
Good grasp of option football, it's success has nothing to do with the
quarterback. The center actually reads the defense and tells the
quarterback what to do. And then, if the quarterback has to run himself,
the defense agrees to go at 1/2 speed and not tackle too hard. Good job,
few people have the insight to realize all this.
: I played touch football at lunch today and threw passes that looked better
: than his, despite the fact (or maybe because) I suck!
And just when I thought you couldn't judge quarterback talent, you go and
prove me wrong. I'm sure you do suck!
: I also heard him speak. Count me out. Sounds like he was too dumb to get into
: a division 1-a school, work on his grades, and qualify for sports; so he had
: to get into a division 1-aa school, "work" on his grades, and become an
: ath-uh-lete.
You bet, we all know that public speaking is the diffinitive yardstick of
intelligence, and of course *everybody* is at ease in front of a camera.

Read my other response. I gave you an answer to that (incorrect) claim.
In case you forgot, Penn State has passed more than they have rushed many
of their recent seasons. They were the first team to win a national title
while having more passing yards than rushing yards.
> I stated in another post that all I'm doing is applying the same

Not true. UF RUTS. PSU DNRUTS.

Nope. I picked up the boxscore, and noticed that Kerry Collins, 1st-string
quarterback who is among the leaders in QB efficiency for the season, threw
7 passes against Iowa despite having two of the best receivers in the country
to pass to.
I also noticed that darkhorse Heisman candidate Kijana Carter rushed a grand
total of 11 times. Terry Dean is also being mentioned as a Heisman candidate.
It all adds up to produce a stink of RUTS emanating from Gainesville.
> I'm bored with this thread and I'm bored with you. You're as bad as

Bored with editing too, I've noticed. Or did you think the audience of rsfc
really needed to see my signature embedded in your posting?

You know, it's one thing for you to be woofing Penn State under my subject
name. But this statement is completely out of line since there can be
only one DARKHORSE HEISMAN CANDIDATE (tm) -- Ramblin' Ramon Flanigan.
GT
Glenn, I'm surprised at you. I haven't seen such an egregious mispelling of
"DARKHORSE HEISMAN FAVORITE" in quite some time.
