I haven't gone on my run in about 4 days now cause a few days ago I
woke up with a sore throat, achey feelings, etc. Now I think I'm
starting to get better. The sore throat is still there though.

Do you guys recommend running with a cold? I'm itching to get out
there for at least a couple miles.. Will I be doing myself more harm
than good though?

if i were you, i'd stay home and rest for another
couple of days until it goes away completely.
better to lose a couple more days of running
rather than risk the cold coming back with a vengeance.

as you know, sequels are always bad.
more so, if they come in quick succession.

Well, just to give you another opinion, I run unless I have a fever. I find
that in general I feel better all around if I do an easy run. The cold seems
to run it's course and I feel a bit better during the process.

The guideline I use is, if by the time you'd normally have warmed up (say
half a mile), you feel ok, keep running. If on the other hand at that point
you feel worse, then walk back home, and start pampering yourself.

I find running tends to sort colds and things out.

Your mileage may vary.

I agree with Thomas... If you've got a fever, don't run... But if there's no
fever and it's just an issue of you feeling crummy, I don't think an easy
run will hurt you... IMHO it will help you feel better.

The general rule I've heard and lived by, and this takes some discretion, is
that if your ailment is below the shoulders don't run, above the shoulders
run. Basically chest colds, stomach flu, etc.. don't run. I general
sniffling cold, headache etc.. can be run on.

I've run through much worse than a cold before. My general rule with
sickness is if you can run, it's ok to run, but never push yourself past
what you feel comfortable with.
