I'm considering buying an frg7700 or frg7 used and would really appreciate
your comments and opinions on these receivers.

Both respectable receivers, however, get the 7700 if you can because the
digital readout is accurate to 1kHz and it's a more advanced receiver.

I like the FRG-7700 for its both its performance and classic
appearance. It only lacks 'station memories' and there is an optional
MU-7700 memory module that holds 12 frequencies. Two optional
'accessories' that make the FRG-7700 a better performing receiver are
the FRA-7700 Active Antenna and the FRT-7700 Antenna Tuner. Both of
these accessories have extra AM/MW band filtering for SW and enhanced
AM/MW reception. The combo of these three Yaesu components makes
a complete SWL & MW-DX shack with the right antennas. Plus the three
FRG/FRA/FRT together make a nice picture on a desk top.

I had a FRG-7700 (Gilfer filter modifications) and the memory unit, with the FRT-7700. It was a nice radio. I bought it in 1982 when I
got back into DXing.

I am looking for a memory module for my FRG7700. Any idea where I can
locate one or any other accessories for this radio?

JRT,

Check eBay.
But in the last year, I think I have seen one Memory Unit MU-7700
listed. It was 'New in the Box' and Bid Out at ~$200.
.
In that same time frame there have been about 2-3 FRG-7700s with the
Memory Unit MU-7700 Option 'installed'. It may be easier to Buy the
FRG with the Memory Unit 'installed' and then decide witch of the two
FRG-7700s is the best radio and put the MU-7700 in it.
