Radios have an obvious Tecsun look to them. Maybe even made in the same
factory.

Criticize* as you will, but no one in the USA seems to be making Shortwave
radios. They look *interesting* at least.

Tecsun radios seem to be sold under a number of different brands. Maybe
this is Tecsun's line made for a different part of the world? (What part
I wouldn't know.) Tecsun radios are sold as Tecsun in China, Eton in the
US, and Grundig in Europe AFAIK. Degen radios are sold as Kaito in North
America. I guess it's the same impulse that led Japanese companies to
rebrand themselves in the early days of transistor radios so that the
radios wouldn't be associated with "the evil Japs who bombed us at Pearl
Harbor". For whatever reason, it appears that China (meaning the CCP) is
going to great efforts to not have people associate Chinese made radios
with China.

That last one, the one on the right, is very interesting.. I would love to
find price and availability on a couple of those radios, but their own
website, though partially in English, is only in Chinese in the section
where you would enquire about prices or buy a radio. I can find noplace that
is selling them outside the Redsun website.

I think most of the market for those radios is China. I mean, it's a
billion person market, with lots of isolated villages who only have the
shortwave services. The point of the names of the radios is to give the
impression of a Western brand--associated with quality--to the local
people--just like there was a craze in the 80's of selling Euro-branded
products in America, down to European Styling Shampoo and Le Car.

I own one of those little Signal Hill AM/FM/Shortwave radios and I own a
Bell & Howell radio just like it.I believe the same company/factory
makes both radios.

Le Car was European.. at least last I heard France was still in Europe.. :)
Le Car was a Renault export.
