With the Grundig Yacht Boy 400 PE Radio try the
"Portable Wire Antenna" (PWA) that was created
and written about by Tom Sevart [N2UHC].
PWA => http://www.geocities.com/n2uhc/portablewire.html

{ with a 'portable' AM/FM Shortwave Radio }

TIP - The Grundig Yacht Boy 400 PE uses a 1/8" Mono-Jack
for the External Antenna Input.

* The Tip-End of the 1/8" Plug is for the Antenna Lead.

* The Rear-Barrel of the 1/8" Plug is for the Ground
Connection to the Radio.

FWIW - Usually the outer Ring of the Headphone/Speaker
1/8" Output Jack is also connected to the Radio's Ground.

i own a yb 400 and i have no idea why any one would
build such a radio with out a ground connection, that
signal on a long wire ant has to have some place to go,
and i am sure the rig would work much better if it had
a ground connection
