My Peppi has a long list of such names, stating with Pepsi-Cola;

Great topic!
Well, my dog, Elvis (the current heartworm surviving king himself) was
adopted by me last year as a three year old...he was already named by his
original owners when he was three months.
I wind up calling him 'buddy' a lot, as in "hey buddy, wanna go in?" or
"c'mon buddy let's go out". I also have to admit when he's sick (not often
at all, but with the heartworm recovery, it's been a rough few nites) I call
him 'honey'. I also have called him 'cutey pie' on moments of absolute
tooooo cuteness... I find he responds to all of them...but his favorite?
"Cookie Monster" because he loves those cookies!!!
I've tried seeing if he responds to any others, but surprisingly, he only
does with the above mentioned ones. He seems to really love the 'honey'
name, but I'm pretty sure thats cuz' of my tone..
My friend calls him 'dufus' sometimes (to piss me off I'm sure) but Elvis
just beats his tail and looks at HIM like HE'S the one obviously confused!

My partner calls Fidget (20-lb Cockapoo) variously "Fidget Bob" or
"Burford" because he has that cain't-fix-the-roof-when-it's-

I am just watching Toby chase his tail...he was going at a pretty good
clip and then apparently decided that if he reversed direction, he could
head it off at the pass. Oddly enough, that didn't work.

Actually, I'm a firm believer in nicknames. Partly because it keeps us
mere hoomans frrom overusing their "real" names. When I use a dog's
"real" name, I need it to give ful attention as there is (more likely
than not) some important information coming up....in the form of a

Your cat has a nickname common with my dog Gizmo. We call her Gizzy
all the time. Also Giz, Pretty Puppy, Baby, Pretty Girl, FluffHead.
My neice calls her Gizzy Bizzy. She's nine.
Wicket, our other dog gets Wicky, Wickster, Pretty Puppy, Baby, Puppy,

the other nicknames.

Oh jeez....practically every song or jingle around here gets Coda's name
stuck in somewhere. I used to *always* sing "C.O.D.A., Coda..." to the
tune of the Kinks "Lola"...it worked out great! Then, just recently, DH
has started doing it...all of the time! I wish I could remember more, some
are VERY funny!
One thing DH does that cracks me up, is say/ask something to Coda, then
answer back in the "Coda voice" (as if the dog is answering him!), usually
it's, "Coda, why didn't you do_____, while we were at work?" or, "Coda,
wanna help me bring in some firewood?" Usually the answer (from Coda, via
DH) is: "Oh Dad, you know I'd love to help you, but I've got a little
problem here...No opposible thumbs!" <laugh> Okay, it's corny, but it
makes me laugh!
Shelly, Coda & Guiness....
That's a great question! I wonder too. I'm *sure* Coda knows that
certain behaviors that make me laugh will almost always get him out of
trouble. <laugh>
I'm just glad he's a pretty good dog, overall & doesn't get into alot of
trouble!
He pouts, meaning, if he's reprimanded (usually for begging), he is told to
"Go to his bed". He doesn, but he does a lazy turn, then flops down with
his whole body & does this MOST pitiful sign/snort.
What a brat.
Shelly, Coda & Guiness...

You think that's bad. Here's what passes for hilarity at our house:
Cubbe will be comfortably curled on her corner of the couch. Jim walks by,

I dont want to publicly call hubby`s eyesight and sanity into question <g>
Patch
Hubby does the singing them songs thing with their names added [ I`m
admitting to nothing myself, in that regard !!! ].
He also makes up what he considers "geat poetry", particularly of the c*ts.
Stuff like,
"Bonnie man, lives in a frying pan, because he can"..........
Now do you see what I mean about his sanity Jenn ? <g>

Gremlin "sings" along to the Star Trek themes [ but not to the totally
innapropriate Enterprise theme ].

You're not talking about the "Enterprise" theme, are you? I'm not a fan of
the song either, but I think it's entirely appropriate..."It's been a long
road getting from there to here..."

You all laugh because I'm different, I laugh cause you're all the same.
Our Tawney (that's what the vet and the county know her by) also goes
by Crash (from her sport of flinging a toy down the stairs, diving
after it, and skidding across the hardwood floor into the French
doors; also from the time she jumped from the second-floor catwalk,
landed on and demolished a bookcase, and was sitting in the middle of
the mess with a great big grin on her face when we arrived), and
Bananas (one of her favorite foods: she'll eat banana peels if we let
her; we're not sure they're good for her, so we try not to).

But sometimes you "slip up", right?
While we're in the questionable foods department (which would
undoubtedly be better put in a different thread), I can't understand
why my Peppi seems indifferent to ice cream. I've never known a dog
that didn't absolutely love ice cream.
Which reminds of the beagle my family had when I was growing up.
Duke liked eating lima beans. I did not. So we had a deal under
the table.

Aye, the Russell Watson song.
I cant take it seriously after seeing his Budweiser adverts.
That aside, vocals for a Star Trek theme, well, its just...not....Star Trek
!!

Joey is our smallest, at 45 lbs, and that's one of his too! It's funny how
many nick names I forget I call them (like "Skinny Butt" for Jack) after
seeing the ones here. It's a wonder any of them know their name at all!

If it were instrumental only it might be more passable I think.

As do we.
Its almost a competition now, to press the FF button after the first note
and before the second. I`m in the lead over hubby on the timing so far.

Hi Beth,
I asked! I told them I wanted this dog with this # and for them to PLEASE
evaluate her as she was the only dog I wanted that was currently at their
facility. Actually there as a GSD, but unfortunately someone had applied
for her before me and they were accepted.
Anyway if one is interested enough in a particular dog at the city
pound/ TLAC(Town Lake Animal Center) than one can apply
for a dog on evaluation side. Of course if said dog has behavior
issues or is sickly then there is NO way to get them out of
that section.:((( There was also PB baby female baby I almost
chose, but I am not that familiar with PB's and she looked like
she had illness. Eyes with junk in them and kind of runny nose.:(
Besides I had already fallen in love with Clovis. But geez
was she not what I expected. LOL
