This christmas I got Michael Green's book about the Sherman by
Motorbooks, and the two posts on here recently about the Israeli
shermans (M1, M50, & M51HV), have got my noodle going! So I start
looking to see what's out there in the way of sherman kits. Here's what
I found. If anyone has put any of these together, could you post a
critique on them? I'm thinking about about creating a webpage index of
the Sherman kit's the way that Paul Owen has done of the Panther kits on
his site _Track-Link_, and the way that Antonio Martin Tello at
_PanzerNet_ has done with the Panther kits
as well.

That's it! Like I said, I'm seriously thinking about doing a webpage
index
of these kits. If anyone has built one of these, and wouldn't mind
giving a
review/critique, and happen to have a JPEG-o-mated photo of their
finished model
get intouch with me. It's going to be a month or so, I'm in the middle
of
switching to another ISP. I could post a message on here when that's
finalized,
if that would be better for anyone interested.

^^^^ Sorry, I got the serial number wrong. It should be "6205".

Not a bad idea.

You are missing a few of the older kits, such as the 1/48 Aurora (M4A3E8
with 76mm gun) and several of the other Bandai kits (they had about five
or six, plus the only M12 yet made in other than 1/72 scale in styrene).

Also there is Tamiya kit RT-1602 in 1/16 scale (nice, but designed more
for R/C than scale), a 1/21 scale kit by them as well (a DOG!!!) and kit
MT118, which was supposed to be a 1/35 scale M4A3E8 and was in about three
different scales (not recommended).

Inkblot,

You left off one.

Commander's Series Models M4A6 1/72

Sorry, I don't recall the item number. It's a complete resin vehicle,
obviously using the old Esci kit as the original, with the unique
engine deck of the A6 model.

I'm sure that there are also many other Shermans out there in metal
and resin. You could expand your index to only include complete kits,
or you could also have a complete list of available conversion and
detail sets too. I know that I'd sure enjoy something like that.

Good luck with the web page. If I complete any of the Shermans that I
have, I'll send along reviews. Email me if you would like a review of
the M4A6.

Here's another one to add to your list.

Also in 1/35, Tamiya kit 35139 M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo (a dog and not
recommended, but needed for the list) and Academy's M4A3E8 (a clone of
Tamiya's MT118 and only fit for "Ol' Blue").

PS What about all of the ACCESSORIES and CONVERSION kits for Shermans? Now
there's a challenge!!!

The Bandai M12 also appeared as an Academy clone kit (the bottom of
the hull still says Bandai ;-)).

On the subject of the old Tamiya M4A3E8, are any of it's parts close
to either 1/35th or 1/32nd scale ??

Bless you, Kevin, for not forgetting!! They are still available from
time to time from some of the mail order outfits or they show up at shows
& flea markets. Tom Gannon(formerly of the now deceased MP Models)

Hi!

Tamiya also made a 1/35th M4A3E2 some years ago.
