That will be a waste of time, how long do you think the 32X of the Genesis
would last, I believe it'll be gone within a year.
Anything less that a 64bit system is not a viable product. Patience is a
virtue, and when the Ultra is released it will be worth the wait and have
a future...not like the 32x ... its a dinosaur already!

Fourty games planned to be out by March 95, 100+ titles planned out by the
end of 95, most major third party companies developing 32X games... What's
convinced you that it will be gone within a year? If you mean that you
have no interest in buying it personally, just say so. But I think that
companies like Acclaim and Shiny (among others) are bright enough not to
waste their time or money on a doomed system.
Do you think it's possible for them to release 100+ games by the end of 95!!!
I don't think they even released 100 games in 1994 and you mean they'll
release 100+ games by 95!!! NO WAY!!!
Bernard Ho
Considering that programming for 32X games started in June '94, and the
number of third party companies who are working on games, I'd say it's
possible. This is to be the work of dozens of companies, over 19 months.
And I'm sure that between Acclaim, Capcom, Konami, Sunsoft, Shiny and
others, there should be a few good titles out for it.
I'm not saying that anything sucks in comparison to the 32X. I'm just
going against some of the unfounded comments like "stopgap system",
"shortterm money maker" and "will be unsupported and dropped". I have yet
to hear a good reason or solid fact to back these DOA flames, especially
since it has more support than the VR32 (which also may or may not make
it), which has met with far less skepticism.
I agree the 32x is waste. It will be fogoten when the new systems are
released.

No it wouldn't! What are you saying. I don't wanna buy something that is just
supposed to hold me over until the new systems start rooling in. I think that
the 32x may sell quite well but mostly to the people that aren't interested in
the new system or don't even know about them. If you ask me it is a ripoff. I
know that Nintendo won't do this.

And how many were stated by Christmas for the Sega CD when it was
introduced? How many actually came out? How many 32X games were planned
to be at release, how many were released? I think those questions right
there will show you that just because they say 40 games by march of 95
and a 100 by christmas of 95, it doesn't mean it will pull through. In
theory it is possible but hey, look at what Sega has done before? I doubt
they will come close. Maybe half of that.

Acclaim and Shiny are in the business to make money. 32X has a decent
user base at the moment. That doesn't mean it will last. Do you think
Hudson is a stupid company? They developed for the Turbo Grafx 16 which
died off. There is no sure thing in this business. The 32X isn't a
guarenteed sucess. It could just bite the big one next year. Its all
speculation and making money. Shiny and Acclaim can make one or two games
for the system, walk away with a profit from those games even if the
system dies. To say its not going to die because why would a company be
stupid and waste their time developing for it is stupid. Do you think
Electronic Arts is stupid? Do you think Virgin is stupid? EA is
developing for 3DO and Virgin is developing for Jaguar. Both of those
systems have a chance of making it or breaking it. Its all a risk thing,
not something that is guarenteed for the developer.

True enough, the numbers that any company gives regarding what it *HOPES*
are generally on the high side. Although, if the 32X can get 5-7 games out
per month like it did in its first month, there would be 60-84 titles by next
Christmas, roughly. That is not bad at all, and considering that 32X title
production should increase and not the other way around, it looks pretty good.
Also, there has already been a distinct difference between the Sega-CD and the
32X releases. 5 quality games out in its first month for the 32X vs. 0 (that
I can remember) for the first *FEW* months of the Sega-CD.

Once again Marty, your logic is sound, I agree with you, but it is also one-
sided. By all rights the exact opposite could happen and it could take off
just as easily as it could fail, the reason being that the market is in one
of its "transition" periods and it is not certain yet what the consumer wants,
likes, or has as an option in the future. The 32X is not a guaranteed failure,
just like you said it is not a guaranteed success. The points about EA are
not really that strong because EA has a vested interest in the 3DO due to its
relationship to the 3DO company. Virgin has made one(?) game for the Jag, and
I would say the Jag has a much more tenuous chance at surviving then the 3DO
does. You said it yourself, the 32X has gotten a decent user-base in a month,
I think that it should be interesting to see what this machine can do once its
potential is tapped. Just like the SNES can do things I never thought it could,
it seems only fair that the 32X be given the same chance.

Hmm, have they actually got DOOM? If they did get it, they had to kiss some
SERIOUS butt to do so after Id's opinion of them. Somehow I don't think
that getting Doom would be a good idea. By the time the Ultra 64 is out
Quake will be released and Doom will be old hat.

Yes, Id's DOOM is coming out for the Ultra. It's being developed by
Williams, with Id Soft being the brains. It's supposed to have a totally
new storyline and everything. That should keep it interesting. The game's
also supposed to have "SGI-specific" animation, so that will hopefully
catch a few eyes.

True, I want to ask you to give the 32x a chance. It's usefullness
hasn't even reached a so called peak. Wait until February 1st. At that time
we'll talk again as more and more info comes out for it. So take heart kid, the
battle is far from over, the war....continues. I'm basically calling for a
ceace fire of slander for all 32x bashers. I mean please Mario, If you want to
gripe about how inferior the 32x is, direct your comments to me and we will
talk. Give it a chance, all with come together soon.

Umm...I dunno how much of a God you are, considering that if you read properly
you would have seen that I was SUPPORTING the 32X. True, I did agree with
Marty on his points, but that was because they are legitimate, they are also
one sided, so I used them to make the point you see in my quoted paragraph
above.
I am glad that people have eased up on the 32X, finally realizing that it is
selling well and has good potential, but people can still voice their
opinion. If it is rational and logical, I look forward to reading it and
possibly debating it. If it is simple flame bait, I ignore it.
The same holds true for any of the systems I have, and I HAVE a SNES, Genny,
Sega-CD, 32X, and access to a 3DO. True I like Sega a *bit* better, but I
don't think any one system deserves "religious" followings.
I do commend you on the information that you sometimes bring to the net Bryan,
in fact I like reading your posts when you aren't blindly promoting or
degrading one system. I do like the way you handled my post to, when you were
thinking that I was ripping on the 32X. Instead of flaming, you talked it
out.

Mario,
Well I'm glad you've finaly came to grips and seen i do posses somekind
of intelligene. In light of your comments I apologize. You and everyone else
should know by now that is whole religious deal is just a joke and a funny
thing I thought I might do to get a little attention when I found this news
group. It worked and all kinds of questions are pouring in daily. Its all in
good clean fun. I mean no harm by it. It's just a title. I thank all
that have emailed me.
I'm a small lad just trying to get by in this crazy world. Everything
we know about the video gaming world will probably be vastly different in two
years so why worry what is better than this or that. It's all a matter of time,
money, and the seriousness of your video gaming. This will truly be my last
message as the computer leaves the room for the Christmas holidays. I'll be
back in January to inform the players of any and all systems, especially SEga
as best I can. Thanks for the comments, it's been fun.
So once again, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and above and beyond
that. Happy Video Gaming to one and all.
The Sega God,
Bryan O'Neill
