I have recorded a couple of demo's using
Demo workshop and posted them on the net.

The first is not spoily at all.
I take an exp. level 1 grey elven wizard
straight to the bug temple and clear the
BUGWIL to the stairs. This gets your
exp. level to about 13. It's kinda tricky
to pull it off, but the recording
demonstrates how, with little/no risk
to your PC. It is just battle tactics,
no mysteries solved or any thing.
The demo runs about 8 minutes and is
about 280K.

The second is spoily.
I demonstrate how to teleport raid
darkforge with a low level mindcrafter.
I almost did it at exp. level 1, but
accidentaly gained a couple of levels
on the way there. I consider it spoily
only because it reveals the location
of the gauranteed wand. The demo runs
about 6 minutes and is about 230K.

I also typed up a wizard's guide.
It's not meant to be perfect though.
It is extremely spoily.

The guide covers some features of magic
such as:
Which bolt spells damage items on the
ground and which don't. Some uses and
limitations of the darkness spell. Some
creative ways to use some spells to give
your PC advantages.
It also covers some suggestions for
considering star signs and talent skill
choices, most of these are just oppinions
though. At the end there is a limited
walkthrough. It mainly covers the things
that are needed to actually win the game.

For new players that struggle with some
parts of the game it might be useful.
For those that just like reading guides,
it might be fun. The guide is 78K.

The wand in assassins guild, or is there one in Dark Forge?

There is no wand of teleportation in
Darkforge. I used the one in the VDDL.
(Assasins guild.)

You can pull off the Darkforge raid
more easily by rolling characters
until you get a WoT to start with,
This takes time however, so if you
start with a wand or scroll of item
detection, you can still use that, to
retrieve the gauranteed WoT from the
VDDL. Also a scroll of magic mapping
works, but I like to explore the VDDL
completely before using the scroll.
By visiting the VDDL before Darkforge
in the demo though, I accidentally
gained a few exp. levels. So if you
want to raid it at exp. level 1, you
would more likely want to start with
the WoT.

I set my computer calandar to DEC. 31st
in order to get the 6 potions of booze
to recharge the wand with. You don't
actually have to do that though, you
can get booze in Lawenilothehl by giving
50 gold pieces to beggars and then
chatting with them (you may have to do
this several times before they will drop
a potion though.)

Interesting raid video... i was expecting you to kill everything in
the forge :P It's all good though.. interesting tactic that i've never
thought of before (and i've played adom for almost 10 years now!)

Man, those were the days too. Arrows could only be fired in 8
directions, no class powers, no monster inventory, no energy system
(there was no weapon skill bonus until Grand Mastery; then it was just
2 attacks per turn and there was no shield skill!)

Just a note after watching you searching for hidden doors - you can
just kick walls and read the message, in order to find hiden doors.
If you kick a wall and the message is 'You hurt your foot kicking a
wall' then the wall is real.

If the message given is 'you really hurt your foot kicking a wall',
then it's a hidden door.

Good videos though, I've watched 1 so far, and enjoyed it...

Thank you for the feedback, and also
thank you for the hint. I am in such a
habit of searching for hidden doors
using the 's' command, that I hardly
ever remember to do it the faster way.
Maybe this will remind me!

The really funny thing about the
darkforge demo, is that after risking
life and limb to get in there, I
completely passed over a red dragon
scale mail! I forget what I wound up
wearing out of there, but I didn't
notice the mail until I watched the
demo myself. Oh well, next time.

Thanks for the feedback.
Teleport raiding Darkforge is one
thing, but taking it head on with
a low level grey elven mindcrafter...
I am much to chicken for that!
That would have to wait until the Heir
gift for mindcrafters gets upgraded
to a wand of improved lightning ball
with about 50 charges.

I also started my adom adventures
many years ago, although not as
early as you I think. I have very
frustrating memories of monsters
picking up the Orbs, and not dropping
them again. Ugh! Thank goodness for
the later versions. I think ADOM 1.0.0
is my favorite version. I've probably
played it more than all the others
put together.
