I recently purchased what I believe is a HUO Tommy with the plan of
adding it to my collection. Unfortunately, an unexpected expense has
come up and I will need to sell it. The original owner is a bank
executive that lived in New York City, but recently moved to
Connecticut. He purchased the game from R. H. Belam Company of
Hempstead NY. There is a sticker on the back of the back box with the
address and phone number. An internet search turned up a listing that
said “closed”. I asked if there was a bill of sale to prove that he
was the original owner. He couldn’t remember if there ever was one,
but either way he didn’t have it. He said he traded in a DE Star Wars
that he had previously bought from the same company and some cash for
Tommy. He told me that it was moved 3 times since he had it and each
time professional movers did it. That explains the dings on the back
box corners that you can see in the pictures. When I got it home the
first thing I wanted to check out was the condition of the batteries,
but there was no key for the back box in the coin door. I emailed him
and he said he gave me all the keys he had. After removing the
security screws and lock, I believe that there never was a key. The
latch still had the screw in place holding it for shipment. The DMD
has the same. The batteries are original, but in perfect condition.
The game audit shows 995 plays. There’s a few more than that since I
occasionally play it. Everything including the blinders work and look
perfect. The only thing I’ve done is change the pinballs when I got it
home.

Pictures can be seen here: http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn267/killinglypinball/HUO%20Tommy/

I’m asking $4500.

Cash and carry only.

Nice, this was the 1700 dollar one up in Redding. Good luck with the gauging not only on the backbox, but also with your price!

Plenty of "the good guys" buy cheap and flip for a big profit. Of course people don't attack the "good guys." I did enjoy the text that reads a bit like a Nigerian scam letter =)

Interesting. I almost bought Neo's HUO Tommy a couple years back for
$3K but, to be fair, that was also when a mint restored AFM was $6K

I think the extra 1500 must include unlimited free Who concerts at
your house while you play Tommy with not only Daltry Townshend and
Entwhistle but the ghost of Keith Moon will also appear on drums!

No, this game didn't come from Redding. If someone bought a HUO Tommy
for $1700 then they got a much better deal than I did.

Only passing on the explanation that the seller gave to me.

That's a beautiful machine and well worth a premium over an average
one. Look at the lockdown bar receiver, there's no dirt, rust, or crud
there. Obviously a super nice example. Price police go crawl back
under your rocks, or go work some overtime so you can afford a nice
machine and stop bitching about what you can't have.

Errr...there would be TWO ghosts at that concert, smarty pants.

Steve, best thing you can do is ignore these jealous pests that come in an invade others posts cuz they have nothing better to do. Wish there was an Orkin for these type of pests! Good luck with your pin!

Thanks Tony. It's sad to see this once great forum going down hill so
fast. The negativty doesn't bother me, but it certainly will to
someone that's new in the hobby. It explains the growing popularity of
pinside and the bash.

Touché I stand corrected! I was just kidding personally about the
extra 1500. One can "ask" for any price they deem appropriate. Getting
it is another thing of course.

Sure they could. "Professional" doesn't mean "excellent at what you do."
It just means you get paid to do something. It's pretty easy to bump the
backbox of a folded game into things if you're not used to moving pins,
or if you're not super careful.

The head of a folded game sticks out a lot further from the dolly than a
noob might expect. That's exactly how I got a ding in my living room
wall. My dad was helping me move games, is somewhat pin-savvy, and
didn't realize how close he was to the wall.

You can see the blinder under the apron in the photo so its there.
Whether or not it works or what shape its in is something else.

It's a nice example no doubt about it. Good luck with the sale!
