Just got back from a trip to Randy's Pinball Arcade in the bottom of
the Boardwalk Mall in Wildwood, NJ with Mark. He has it setup with
about 70-80 machines in the pay for play area. He charges $10/hour.
No other options available at this time. He announces when the hour
will start. You need to wait for a start time before you can play.
At the end of the hour he asks everyone to leave and starts a new
hour. Since no one was around in the afternoon he let us play for 1
1/2 hours and did not kick us out. Most of the machines were fully
working. Some had some minor issues. He does not allow video or
pictures to be taken, not sure why, I saw the sign but did not ask.
Most of the machines are Williams and Gottlieb with some Bally's and
Chicago Coin thrown in. He has them all on high tap and must be using
super duper pop bumper coils because the pop bumpers on all of the
machines (Williams, Gottlieb and Bally) were knocking the ball around
like I have never seen before. Hopefully they do not cause the
machine to break plastics or targets.
There is also some other games outside that need coins to play. Some
pinball and gun games. There is also a shooting gallery to shoot out
the red star and a horse race game where you roll balls to get points
to move your horse down the track.
Some of the machines that I remember:
Gottlieb: Team One, King of Diamonds, 2001, Central Park, Super Spin,
Buckaroo, Fast Draw, Quick Draw, Pioneer, Roller Coaster, Mustang,
World Fair, Now
Williams: Straight Flush (Pop bumpers were on Speed), Yukon, Soccer,
Whoopee, 8 Ball, Ding Dong (Pop Bumpers were unbelievable), Granada,
Aztec, Love Bug
Bally: Circus (not working correctly), RoGo, Surfers, Safari, El Toro,
Vampire
Chicago Coin, Gun Smoke (Awesome game to play with the Gun Smoke
button).
There were also some pitch and bat machines in the pay for play area.
Definitely a nice place to play some EMs. If you are down there I
would highly recommend that you check it out. He also said he is
still trying to get his place opened up at the old Woolworths but he
is having problems with the elected officials.
Whoo-Hooooo!!!!
Time to head for the NJ Shore again, Pinball, Pinball and Pinball!
No Snooki and The Shituation!

He emailed me last week and asked if I could help spread the word
about his new pinball venture...
"About 100 EM Pinballs, set on free play with hourly admission charge
to get in and have unlimited play. Fast playing, amazing feel like
solid state, but on electro-mechanical !! Extra stuff to do to, some
gun games, bat and pitch, even shoot out the star and 16 player derby
race. The collection is just the tip of the iceberg, as it is part of
a massive collection of thousands of great old Amusement Park games
and memorabilia... Also in town is an amusements museum filling the
entire Woolworth's department store... hoping to open soon !!! it is
only a WOW !!!
Remember When Retro Arcade Pinball Palace inside the Boardwalk
Mall, 3800 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ 08260"
Good luck Randy! Hope to see you this summer.

i was there the saturday of memorial day weekend, and had a great
time. all of
the machines that i played were working good and the pop bumpers were
amazingly strong and fast. the owner ( randy ) needs to come up with
an "all day pass" $ price because you can't play all of the machines
in 1 hour. it would be great if you could pay a daily fee $ and play
fro a couple hours, then go up on the boardwalk for a bite to eat and
see the sites, than go back to play more
pinball for another couple hours. his set up is a pinhead's dream,
and the daily
fee $ is really the way to go, you need the time to play multiple
games on a machine, to see if you can get a high score, or pop
specials, and 1 hour just doesn't cut it.
there is a great mix of games ( gottlieb, williams & bally ) and a
chicago coin game called "gun smoke" that is a must play. there are
2 hole/cups that when the ball goes into, there are bonus points
flashing on the back glass, and you push a button on the cabinet to
stop the flashing bonus on a score amount 50, 100, 200, 300, 500 point
value, it's really unique.
sorry to hear of the guy who went last friday and the place was
closed. i guess
randy just took the day off. i plan to attend a couple more times
this summer.

It's about time someone took advantage of Wildwood NJ!! Not too many
years ago Wildwood was loaded with arcades featuring any number of
pinball machines. Ocean City NJ still has 3 or 4 decent arcades (esp
"Jilly's") on the boardwalk with a good line up of machines.
He was on the boardwalk at the Old Glenwood ave. Bowling Alley\Roller
Skating Building. Back then it was like $10 a day all you can play.
The problem was NOBODY could see it because it was basically hidden
from public view. Then the 2nd problem was there were WAY more "Out Of
Order" signs on the machines than customers...
