I think everybody posted their first thoughts about Trammel.
I know this is just a little late, but hay I've got to post something
:)

Like many Felluca players I was more or less homeless.
I say more or less because although I don't own my own house I'm a
friend to many.
After 13 months of playing I felt it was about time to invest some of
my hard earned gold in a building to call home.
Well, the house placing for me didn't go according to plan, I did
manage to place a log cabin in the back of beyond, but there were a
lot of buildings in the area - great a community I thought.
Well after only 3 days I have now transfered that house to a friend
who couldn't get a place in Trammel, and I don't have any plans to go
back and visit soon.
I decided to spend the weekend in Trammel, see what the lands were
like, what the people were like and visit some areas I haven't gotten
around to visiting yet.
My first meeting with the Trammel locals was from a Fair warrior.
He walked up to me and asked if I would follow him to his newly built
house, he didn't know how to lock things down.
I follow him and see a tower infront of me, surely not, surely he will
walk around this building and show we into his newly placed log cabin
or the like, but alas no.
'How do I lock this chest down on the roof of my new tower' the player
enquires.
No sooner am I a few screens away from the tower I see a player with 2
human corpses at his feet and proudly attacking a gypsie.
As a defender of the good I rush over to help the poor wandering
person.
I fire off a bandage at her and manage to get most of her falling
health.
'Twat' is the reply I get from the player calmly slaughtering the
people around him.
Now I'm not one to let that kind of language get to me, but that
combined with the two corpses at my feet and another soon to join
forced me to try and help.
Noticing the criminal in fron tof me I switch into War mode and
attempt to save the poor gypsies life.
Can I attack this criminal?
Can I hell.
Soon the gypsie is poisoned and although I manage to cure her with a
bandage I can't get the heals in fast enough and soon she dies, off
wanders my new found criminal, I shall call him Twat as that is the
only word he spoke during our meeting.
I'm a healer as well as a warrior so I decided the Lich Lord room
might be a good place to go and offer my help.
I thought if I took a silver weapon with me for protection but
consentrated on healing the injured and bringing life back to the
fallen I would be able to gain some more skill in this art.
It would appear I wasn't needed.
The room was crowded with so many people, they must have out-numbered
the Lich's three or four to one.
As soon as one of these foul beasts appeared he was cut down and
stripped of all items within seconds.
Then a gate opened, yet more people enter this already crowded room.
Not a word passed the lips of these players, I assumed maybe they were
all mute.
I shouted a 'Hello' to the room, 'If anybody needs any healing come
stand close to me'
Only one warrior replied with a 'Hello & thanks'
I could now see the new arrival, a man on horse back armed not with
the usuall sword or Axe, but with 2 dragons - I left feeling that
maybe waiting around in this room to help people really wasn't worth
it.
Before I left I decided to watch the 'tactics' of the players in the
room, see how they fairly shared out the loot.
It would appear that the loot was spread evenly 50-50 between my
friend and his two dragons and a lone archer.
I saw him many time run away from an appearing foul beast, one the
beast had targetted another he stood back, waiting for his moment.
Then, just as the beast was about to fall he would fire off a couple
of arrows as he ran forwards, I saw that man drop many many backpacks.
Lastly I decided to see what was in town, I had to see the community
(Which until a few hours earlier I thought I was joining) see who was
who, maybe get to be known.
What better way to learn than to stand and listen to the
conversations, see who the tradesmen are, see who are the valient
warriors and mystic mages.
I stand and listed the the Glorious Lord (name witheld) Grandmaster
Warrior talking to the Illustrious (name witheld again) Grandmaster
Healer.
'Shall we have a dual' Says the Glorious Lord
'Nah, I've only been playing for two weeks, you'll slaughter me' the
Illustrious player responds
'I've only been playing for three weeks, come on lets go' the Glorious
Lord responds.
I stand in disbelief, Grandmaster Healers (Read Antaomy) and
GrandMaster Warriors after two and three weeks.
Players with higher social standing than myself after such a short
time in this world.
Then, as I see 'MiKe ThE WaNkEr' walk past I know my time in this
world is over.
I calmly walked over to the bank, ignored the cry of 'I've just died
and lost everything, please give me some gold' from the warrior
wearing Shadow armour.
I take a stone that I know will retuen me to my own land, walk slowly
towards the Britain graveyard, once there are no guards in sight I
carefully place the stone and return home.
I walk through the gate, the lush landscape is no more, suddenly I am
comforted by the duying flowers around me......Home!
I might not have a house here to call my own, but by god it's home.

So that's it, I made one more quick trip to Trammel, litterally for
five minutes to transfer over ownership of my log cabin.
I returned to Felluca and went to the nearest inn - goodbye Trammel, I
certainly wont miss you.

Youre the kind of asshole that pisses me off. You dont like trammel so
you make up a story, asd to why everyone else should not like it as
well. the only part of your story that i quoted, is IMPOSSIBLE in
trammel, as you cannot perform beneficial acts on the gypsies.

In closing, If you wanna defame trammel, tell the fucking truth. Twat.

Actually even if it was true I wouldnt care. This is the kind of
thing that gives roleplayers a bad name.

Man, I went to Felucca to help a friend place a small tower, I ended
up trading it ot someone in Feluccia for a small house (which I'll
have to find a good owner for as it's the one next to my house).

Anyway.. I will never return there except to make the final transfer
of the house to my friend after he moves his stuff in.

Trammel is the land of the lowest common denominator, if all of UO
were like this then it would be ruined..

Luckly, there is Feluccia.. although there seems to be a drastic
shortage of reds.. I'm getting into an Order guild to see some action,
should go order 1 week from last saturday.

I hate trammel, I am refusing to help new players there now even..

Yes it is a unearthing an old debate. And you get sick of seeing
Illustrious Grand Master Warriors who've only played a month - how do you
think i felt when I saw on my first venture into Deceit on Trammel and saw
Illustrious Adept Warriors! (After struggling for 6 months to make Admirable
on Felluca).

I must agree, the comadrie and the companionship is almost non-existant.
Sure, on Felluca you have your Noto's and and PK's but at least they do it
honestly - on Trammel they wait for you to die then keep standing on your
ghost so you can't get res'd until your body turns to bones so they can loot
you! Leave your runes and keys behind? Do they shite!

Buy a house, make it public. Lock down your Whispering Rose, your Janna's
Hangover Remedy, your magic 8 ball, your "wrist watch". Use a "fur" from
when llamas, gorillas, and bears dropped them as a welcome mat. Use your
"Commemorating the 300th year of Mondains Defeat" and your Valentine bag for
secures.

Put a book on the table that says, "If you weren't here when these items
were given out newbie, Illustrious and GM Anatomy don't mean shit."

You may want to phrase it a little differently, but it would reflect your
standards a little.

I met a Glorious lord once in Trinsic, who didn't know how
to ID his magic platemail gorget that one of his guildmembers gave
him. I handed him a ID wand and he was amazed LOL.
I walked off just completely puzzled.

Incorrect, i was able to use Jaanas hangover remedy, that was locked
down in a house, not 3 days ago. Same goes for pink champagne.

You can still very successfully block off areas of a house. Interior doors
leading to things like the balcony are also lockable. I haven't checked if
telekinesis can still drink/eat items, but LOS should take care of that
nicely.

But for that matter, rares in a locked room that people don't have access to
will still be able to be single clicked to see what they are.

Like I said before, this is like the pre-Ren days. Some people would
come in here claiming there was a PK behind every tree, some would
claim they'd maybe seen one in the last month.

I haven't seen even half the problems ascribed to Trammel, even after
going to the lich room. Only people there was the party I went with.

Maybe I'm blessed; or maybe I just lack the desire to slag Trammel,
and thus don't look for things to complain about while forgetting
about the good things I've seen...

Nope, That was the initial plan though. Then SBR deviated from it and
started PvPing against them. Which is exactly what the grief dewds
wanted. That was the error SBR made, the were trying to fight the
dewds, but they did it in a way that the dewds enjoyed. Thats the main
reason antis fail most of the time.

Hehe, point taken, for what its worth, it was the "Fighting against
the jerks", which soon thereafter turned to "PvPing with the jerks"

as soon as it went from fighting against, to fighting with, SBR was
lost
