Hi,

Just checked out the Worlds of Origin website. In case you didn't know
yet: they have permission from Origin to distribute Ultima 4. So
downloading it from their site is legal.

Oops. Seems like my heavy UO withdrawal is getting to me. ;) Of course the
email was crystal clear in that aspect :)

It could apply if certain kids around here didn't have a problem with
Whisper (for no apparent reason). I don't understand why you all can't get
along with Whisper, and I really don't care. She's still my friend and
that's all that matters to me. If you don't have anything good to say
about her then keep it to yourself. She's not around here anymore so
there's no reason to talk shit.

Now, now. Be nice. (= You make it sound like Whisper flames anyone
who mentions her name. Sure, she'll blast away with the best of 'em,
but she's not some ravening monster who'll pounce at the slightest
provocation.

Well, it _was_ a joke, perhaps in bad taste. But it can hardly be denied
that Whisper certainly attracts and gives out more than her fair share of
heat. It's been that way as long as I've been around, and before.

I was also referring to the fact that Whisper putting U4 on her site was
not likely to go by silently. It was as much a comment that she was likely
to be flamed as it was that she was likely to flame.

Perhaps I should stop saying so much in so few words...

(I know I'm in trouble when I take two paragraphs to explain a one-liner

Correct... it's *JUST* the version that came on the CGW CD (and thanks
for clarifying it Fortran). And of course it's to be made available
only as long as it's not to be used otherwise for commercial purposes
(i.e. as a introduction to Ultima for new players only).

The only things that might say about me are that Whisper is my friend and
that I'm not going to judge people by what others say. There might be
things that aren't good to say about me (as there are for anyone) but you
certainly can't get them from what I wrote above.

I'm not talking about any kind of freedom of speech here. I'm talking
about the immaturity of talking shit behind someone's back.

Bah. Like her if you want, but she earned the revulsion of many of us
during the Wars. She deserves all the criticism I have personally seen
directed towards her.

I'm not going to try to change the opinions of others. That would be
pretty hypocritical since I have a policy of keeping my own and not letting
other form my opinions.

I will have to check this out then. Whisper has always been a friend to me
as long as I've known her and, like most people, I try to stick up for my
friends. It isn't right for me to do that here without knowing what
happened during the time that you mention above.

I don't want to go into that whole situation.
Let's just say that although some of us didn't play a part
in the "Whisper wars", we were around.
We've been able to follow it (or read it through dejanews).
Fact is: you're right when you say that talking behind a person's
back isn't very decent.
It might help though if some people wouldn't continue
to bring up that old stuff.
Or continue to state certain facts about said dragon, that
are likely to create some reactions.

In article <01bce033$0e5d9820$750065cf@helix>, he...@eatel.net says...
If you are a real friend of hers, then it won't make any difference
anyway. Deja-news does not tell the whole story - it might tell you why
some people don't like her, (or me or Fortran for that matter)
Rather than wade through all that, may I suggest you accept there are
people who have legitimate reasons to dislike her and leave it at that?
