Presto!

I've searched and searched, but I can't find the origin of the Presto!
hand at the Barge. Anyone help me?

If you mean how did the term "presto" work its way into poker speak, here
is the story.

There used to be a club in London called the Presto Club. The address was
55 Victoria Street, London. Therefore, whenever someone was dealt 55 in
hold'em, they'd say they were dealt "Presto", because of the club's street
address. When English players played events worldwide, the word spread,
and it caught on everywhere.

During Round 3 of the PokerPages $10k Warm-Up I was short stacked and moved
it in with Presto. Ran into KK but no Presto magic. Ack!

These crappy kings beat my pair of fives. I don't see how that happened!

It's pretty hard to believe that he could hit a board with ALL his cards.
But I've had it happen to me, too. Sometimes they just get SO lucky when
they are "drawing at blanks".

Completely wrong.

Many years ago, before Rec.gambling was split into several groups,
followers of the group who were blackjack players were fond of saying
"Presto!" as they turned up a 21. This became a sign of recognition
of fellow travelers.

Some discussion arose about what poker hand should be the "Presto!"
hand. There were some miracle wins with 55 around that time. and it
became the hand.
