was recently booted out of our barn in Libertyville, Illinois, for
cause. There were tons of rumors swirling around concerning theft,
non-payment of bills, mistreatment of horses, etc.

I emailed Easygoer privately, as I know of
a different Heather Hill. The gal I know is/was a trainer up in Wisconsin, she
started my Little Darlin' under saddle, then gave her a "tune up" before I
brought her
home nearly five years ago. There's no mistreatment, no unpaid bills,
etc regarding "my" Heather Hill.
Just wanted to keep things clear here.

Oh yeah......
If I'm in need of anything, I'll usually stop in and see if they have
it---they're right around the corner from my barn, I drive past to get to my
accountant's office, etc etc.
Honestly, they don't have as much as they used to "in stock", but the catalog
store is nearby, so they can usually get it pretty quickly if you need it.
I had more fun there shopping for trailers last year than anything else.
Sometimes I think Ron got tired of me stopping in and asking questions and
finally gave me a good price (ok, decent price) on the trailer I wanted and the
deal was done.
Funny how dropping $13K gets you on a first-name basis with people <g>.

Although their lack of stock for basic supplies is annoying as hell. It's
almost worth it to take the extra 10 minutes to Gurnee for STL to get
something.
Frequent the place long enough and you get on a first name basis with just
about everyone.
Carol: I don't know if the pic is still up at the Western counter, but if
you ever see a picture of a big red Belgian wearing a tiny black Western
saddle, that's my old man. One of the salespeople wanted a picture of him
wearing it.

This afternoon, on my lunch break, I walked down to our only tack store,
Copperfields. The New Yawkers and ex-New Yawkers in this NG remember it
as Millers. The new owners, to their credit, did not gut the store and
redecorate -- the store has the same ambiance as before (Snooty English
Diva), but with the merchandise rearranged. The saddles, which used to
be in basement, are now just inside the front door. That wonderful
smell of new leather hits you as you walk in. Ahhhh.
I bought a hard-rubber curry, one of those with the big rubber knobs,
which are great for shedding. I probably only paid $1 more than it
would have cost from a catalogue. Also picked up a pair of Tuff Rider
breeches, which were only $2 more than they cost on the Equestrian
Collections website. I was truly shocked by the competitive prices!
While I was trying on the breeches I overheard a customer ask the
manager if they "carried Western." The man nearly had an aneurism. "We
are east of the Mississippi!" he told her hautily. But then he very
generously recommended that she visit Whiskey Dust, a cowboy wannabe
store on Hudson street that carries vintage Western clothes and boots.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I emailed her privately at first. When I
found out a little more of the story, I posted my reply--my "discovery" of
multiple Heathers--on the Wreck.

Yup. Tho lately I've been at Saddler's Row and Barrington to get decent No-Bow
wraps for the Beast. Pet Smart is nice 'cause I can pick up horse supplies and
dog food at the same time.

Hehe. I'll bet that's the reaction you'd get if you asked for "western" at

game. Your HH. You move your operation to our barn. You say you're
a champion international show jumper. You set the world record for
the youngest person to ever jump 6' 8" (even though such a height is a
little odd). So we check you out on Google. Just for fun. Nothing,
just an old address in Valpo Indiana. Well maybe you competed under
your married name - Heather Jayne - ex-wife of Danny Jayne. Nope,
nothing except an odd reference to Silas Jayne. Ever heard of him
either of you two??? Lisa??? Robin?? Well you say, guilt by
association is hardly fair and maybe you're right. Let's look
further. You pay your board bill (8 horses) with third-party checks -
15 days late- every month. You wouldn't be having trouble
establishing a checking account would you? Maybe an old IRS lien?
Maybe it's nothing? You then hire a groom. A nice guy who works for
you for 3 months but you pay him for 1 week. You give some lame
excuse about not being up to the job. Illegal immigrant anyway. Then
there's your farrier. Two rounds of shoeing and you pay zipo. Same
deal for your trainers. So management finally tosses your backside
out. Where do you go? What better place than a barn with ties to
Ross Hugi. Convicted felon Ross Hugi. In case you aren't familiar
with him Lisa, rumor has it he's one bad son-of-a-bitch when it comes
to horses.
My intention in posting to the group was NOT to slander someone. To
start a rumor. To be nasty. I was just trying to ascertain just how
big a bullet we dodged! Guess we knew more than you. Count your
blessings, HH may be coming to a barn near you.

Ah, but just coming onto a newsgroup --- one you haven't been on before
AFAIK, bring up a name (and it's not, obviously, like the HH YOU named
is the only person named HH), bring up bad junk about that person -- but
with no background -- yeah, I still think it's nasty.
Personally, I don't know (or, probably, care to know) any of those
people. However, apparently from your own write up, you aren't real
bright about allowing people into your barn. You checked up on the
claims, found nothing and didn't think that strange? You allowed
payment late every month and didn't suggest the person leave? And,
apparently, HH was in your barn for 3 months? You allowed some poor
groom to work for no pay in your barn without doing something? Oh,
that's right, they were an illegal -- so what?
Yeah -- still think it's nasty.

I'm not sure I want to play games with you. Did a little search on your
username on Google groups, and didn't find much in the way of equine
pursuits. Mostly posts on alt.sex.swingers and alt.backrubs and
pdaxs.services.massage. I'm not near as "nasty" as you are...
Sorry to 'dis ya, but when you post bad things about someone under an
anonymous name, when you don't have a regular presence on this NG, it raises
suspicions.
Better go back to those other NGs, maybe you'll be more at home.

would have been only a teenager then. She did marry Danny Jayne, got
divorced, and moved back to Indiana.
Here's what I recall about her:
She blinded a horse in one eye as a teenager. She had a temper tantrum at
a stable called Lake Hill Downs. She smacked the horse in the head with
her crop and blinded him - and she showed no remorse.
She had a grey jumper mare, Swift Gazelle, and rode with a trainer named
Chuck Layton.
Last I heard, she was marrying a dentist in Indiana - but that was back
about 10 years ago or so.

and Heather in Chicago. Just kind of wondering where they were and if
they were still doing the horse thing. Um, I can believe the money
stuff--always was an issue when I worked for them. I never saw Heather
treat a horse badly, however. Didn't know "who" they were related to
until after I came back to California--scary stuff. About six months
after I left there was a huge raid on the stables and everyone (except
Danny and Heather)got arrested on drug charges. Frank, Danny's dad, was
finally convicted, 17 years after the fact, of burning down the barn that
I worked in for the insurance money. Last time I talked with Danny he was
down in southern California working as a trainer. I think he is back in
Illinois now, however. I always had the feeling that Heather led him
around by the nose while they were married. I absolutely despised the
woman. She was such a fake. Never saw her actually ride in a
competition. She liked working with young girls for the hero-factor, I
think. Danny, however, could ride. Watched him take a very green horse
over a 6' wall like it was nothing. Impressive stuff. He has had some
legal troubles himself but I think he is okay now. So if anyone knows
where he is or has heard of him, I was just feeling nostalgic and
wondering how he is. Thanks.
