From Vade Mecum:

PIV: 1600V Max DC current: choke input, 350 ma, cap input 250 ma.
Filament 5V at 2.8 A.
Chart shows that with 400VAC per plate (ie: 800VCT xfmr),
drawing 200 ma, puts out about 400VDC, but that's with only a 4 uF
input cap, you'd get more using a larger cap as is normally done.

According to my book, the bulb for a GZ33 is
15 mm shorter than GZ37. They're very similar
otherwise, the PRV rating on GZ37 is 300V higher
and the filament current is 200 ma less.

Mike in Okemos, Michigan... you might be better off trotting over to
http:/www.triodeel.com/ (Ned's site) a bit closer to home plus
Billington appears to not have a website (at least based on the
info on andre's site) but only phone and fax contact numbers...

or try http://www.angela.com/bet he would have some CV378's as
well.

The entire industry is aware that you are a con-man. Everyone that reads
your vile lies and phony stories knows the truth. The only people you are
able to fool are the uninformed, or a person like Mr. Perry who
accidentally stumbled across your poison site and formed an opinion without
checking you out. Any reasonably person who takes a good look at your crap
realizes who and what you are. Don't worry the decent honest people here
will not let you go unchecked. We will not let you pollute this NG with lies
and misinformation. Good will always triumph over evil...

Don't recall that I "denigrated" Billington whatsoever... not one iota... what
I did was to point out that the only contact info for Billington on your
website was their voice and fax numbers--- no electronic means of
communicating with them. And then I pointed out poignantly to Mike
in Okemos, Michigan two different sources (each with websites) that
were much closer geographically to him..... no harm done... just additional
information and resources for the original poster.

And yes, I will "scrub" out your website. I personally cannot recommend it....
so as an excercise of my free speech rights... I "scrubbed" the address.
Personally
I find the incessant spamming for your website to be offensive... the frequency
(say up to a half dozen times a day) is IMO "way over the top". One can only
be
thankful that all the other tube related sites in the electronic universe or
the
other e-zines do not behave in a similar manner. But that is my opinion....

Again, there was no foul remarks, no cursing, no slams on any business at all.
Just an alternate set of positive source recommendations for the gentleman from
Michigan to pursure in terms of obtaining some GZ37's....

and "spitefulness"??? I'll leave that one go... <g>

The excellent book: "Electronic Universal VadeMecum" by
Mikolajczyk & Paszkowski also list the GZ 37/CV 378.
Ned Carlson gave you the ratings, and I guess he found them in this
book. Hardbound, 659 pages, comprehensive data on 5700 valves with
curves, outlines etc. etc. 30 x 22 cm, 2.5 Kg Available for NOK 663.-
or about US$ 89.-

Bob, you're kicking Andre when he's down. The war was over a long
time ago. The only weapon Andre has now is to goad us into stooping
to his level of spite and hostility. If you respond in kind to his
insults you just prolong the conflict, blur the distinction between
the good guys and the bad, and feed his claim that there's a conspiracy
afoot.

Better to leave Andre alone. Or when you can't stand it anymore
(which is kind of where I am right now), let him know without getting
abusive that you're just as sick of fighting as anyone else.

The only one who benefits from abuse of Andre... is Andre.

I made it clear I don't think Bob's scorched-earth strategy is doing
anyone any good (except Andre, who enjoys the attention). How you can
side with Andre in the greater picture is beyond me. I guess part of
the marvel of humanity is our great diversity of perspectives.

But John, in fairness and for a more complete picture... I don't think that
you've ever seen Bob C claim to have built and sold dozens of kilobuck single
ended amps that no one has ever seen or heard. Was it
Bob C who claimed to have designed, developed, and sold two sets of $200,000 a
pair Real McCoy snailhorned Lowthers?

Is it Bob C who posts up an article by a Bill May, Tech Dir of Real McCoy amps
and then is never heard from again... the article being designed solely to
flame and malign one company? Is there really a Bill May? Or is Bill May
another make believe friend like Mr. Beresford?

Is it Bob C who claims to have invented the Chrysler hemi-head?

Is it Bob C who claims that he writes a syndicated music coloumn read by 9.2
million people every week?

Is it Bob C who claims to have three patents in three different technical
areas?

Is it Bob C who claims to be an accomplished fashion "eyewear designer"?
(stated here on this group... yep... do that deja news thing John)

Is it Bob C who claims to have a room full of computers running full steam
ahead but yet, apparenlty, mooches a shareware newsreader for _____ (fill
in the blank) days without compensating the author for his work.

Bob can be a bit outspoken at times... but perhaps it is because he cannot
stand the amount of BS that others can..... And the issue of character,
integrity, and honesty has been brought to the forefront by none other than
Andre Jute himself based solely on the claims which have originated from his
own pen. Is Bob C a thug if he doesn't buy these "what's your line" stories
line, hook, and sinker?

Now... all of that said... I do agree with Henry P that falling for Andre's
every bait... for Andre's desire to be the center of attention at any and all
costs is a mistake... so back to my self-imposed moratorium on commenting on
matters Jute-esque. <g>.
