Hi Stephanie,
It's a ribbon microphone that can be found pretty cheap, $175 to $250
or so an ebay. It isn't made any more though. It is a mic that has
been acknowleged as often sounding quite nice on female voices and I
would say that is true. It does not put out a lot of juice though so
your DVC may not be able to work with it really well. It's a pretty
nondescript little thing but it sounds so smooth. It really has a
special kind of quality. The only other mic I've ever liked as much
was a Lawson L47mp - which I cannot afford. I have also sent a broken
M260 away to Stephen Sank to get his DX mod so I will let you know how
that compares when I get it back.

| About the Langevin - I am an accoustic singer/songwriter type
| and I use a TDC1000 into my G3 and, due to my reading r.a.p.
| I also have an RNC. I wanted to improve my front end a bit so
| I bought a Focusrite Platinum Series channel strip type box
| and I hated it. I really didn't think it sounded a great deal
| better than my mixer and I never really could get it set up
| right or quickly. It was all just fiddle fiddle fiddle. So I
| sold it and saved up and decided to buy the Langevin DVC because
| of all the good things I hadread about it, plus it was just barely
| affordable for me, plus I think Manleylabs is the coolest company
| with the coolest website.
+------
Coolest owner too.

| The sound of the DVC is wonderful, it has this really clear
| detailed sound that is also very natural and organic sounding at
| the same time. I was reallyhonestly amazed when I first tried it
| out. The other thing about it is that it is so easy to use even
| though it does three things - it's as if someone figured
| out what the minimal number of knobs were needed to do the job
| really well and then made sure they worked perfectly. I hate
| messing around with equipment when all I want to do is get a song
| recorded. With the DVC I just set the level and use the 2 eq knobs
| a little to see if it helps any and if I want to use
| the compressor I can easily hear how the sound changes until it is
| adjusted just right. It has really helped out my recording efforts.
| I really like the sm81 on my guitar so all I need is a better vocal
| microphone and I will never need to be concerned about buying anything
| else.

Thanks for the info Stephanie, I want one.

| BTW - I think I have seen you on stage twice, like 18 years apart.
| Some friends and I came down to Baltimore once to see Robin Trower
| but we could not get in and ended up going to a fairly large club
| where your band Sex Kosmologie was playing. Does your singer always
| wrestle with you onstage like that? :-)
+------
Oh God... this is going to haunt me forever. That singer was
Jannelle Seryonsovin and we did that one night to torture the band and
because we both would get quite revved up performing and had a similer
perverted sense of humor etc. Then it became a "thing" and the people
who followed the band would start shouting - Jannelle would bring old
fruit to throw at them. But we would still do it sometimes
spontaneously too.

| Also, how did you do that amazing end solo on the song Reanimated?
+------
That guitar has a sustainiac pickup and when I was playing it then I
used a TS9 tube screamer or Fulldrive II into a Fulltone DejaVive. The
amp was a Boogie Mk IIb or a Deluxe Reverb.

| But did you used to live in Philadelphia and play in a band named
| "Moon and Sun"? I was at the Fairmount Park festival in 1981 and I'm
| sure that was you. You looked about 14, and played with another
| guitarist who looked and played like Jimi Hendrix. Everyone was
| playing through gigantic amplifiers and thecrowd would not let the
| band leave the stage.

<laugh> Holy frijoles...so it *isn't* all a dream... I really *did*
used to live in Philadelphia and play in a Hispanic/Finnish
rock band which used gigantic amplifiers. I wasn't sure.
Wow though, that is really an amazing thing. Thanks for telling me
about seeing both those bands. That other guitar player was Ceasar
Lopez, a good friend. He played a strat through a 100 watt Plexi and
I played my Jaguar w/ humbuckers into an Ampeg V4. I was not 14
though.
