VIBE Exclusive: Is Nick Cannon Resurrecting ‘Soul Train’?
by John Kennedy

Nick Cannon Presents Wild ‘n Out isn’t the only cult classic that
Cannon plans to give new life.

Trusted sources tell VIBE that Nick Cannon is rubbing his jaws of life
over the Soul Train franchise, as he negotiates a multi-million dollar
deal for complete rights to the urban music variety show.

The source says that deal is still in the works, however, the
NCredible CEO plans to revive the show in a modern-day format, with
the modern stars like The-Dream or Meek Mill commanding Soul Train
dance lines.

With Cannon's ties to TeenNick, MTV and NBC—where he signed a
production deal in November—it’ll be interesting to see where Soul
Train finds its new home.

You mean you don't watch the TeenNICK's (weekly) Top 10 Countdown (of
videos), hosted by Nick Cannon?!!

He was the final straw in the camel of America's Got Talent.

Aw, Geez, you can't blame him for AGT. I don't like him either, but
let's face it: The show actually *suffered* by Piers Morgan's
departure.

It's like a restaurant's food getting worse when they take Cheez Whiz
off the menu.

I was gone by then, but it's hard to believe. I think the show probably
suffered from EVERY departure; certainly Regis, and then Jerry (I was
amazed what a good job he did) and even Brandy. And of course The Hoff.

Who replaced Morgan? Last I saw it was Howie and Sharon and Nick and
Morgan.

Well, that's one we can agree on without any deep thought. Regis was
a class act.

>amazed what a good job he did)

Yeah, me too. But then I read his biography in Wikipedia. He's a
smart and interesting guy. He just comes up a little short in the
integrity department.

Did you realize Springer's a Brit?

> and even Brandy. And of course The Hoff.

They were both cute and fun, but in the intellect department, let's
think "two bags of hammers".

Me too. I know Howard Stern was on it, and there's someone else I
think.

Okay, I just read something about it and I still can't tell. Possibly
Mel B., aka "Dancing with the Stars Spice", also possibly Heidi Klum.

Amazingly, Jerry Springer was probably the smartest person ever to be
a part of the show's staff. I'm guessing he and Regis were the only
two people with an IQ over 100.

And yet, he's the first to admit it. Do you get integrity points for
that?

Brandy's got the 'murderess' thing going for her too.

Season 7 was apparently
Judges
Sharon Osbourne
Howie Mandel
Howard Stern
Host(s)
Nick Cannon

6 was
Judges
Piers Morgan
Sharon Osbourne
Howie Mandel
Host(s)
Nick Cannon
- yeah, that's a line up I wouldn't go near

5 was
Judges
Piers Morgan
Sharon Osbourne
Howie Mandel
Host(s)
Nick Cannon

4 was
Judges
David Hasselhoff
Piers Morgan
Sharon Osbourne
Host(s)
Nick Cannon

3 was
Judges
David Hasselhoff
Piers Morgan
Sharon Osbourne
Host(s)
Jerry Springer

2 was
Judges
David Hasselhoff
Piers Morgan
Sharon Osbourne
Host(s)
Jerry Springer

And finally, first season
Judges
David Hasselhoff
Piers Morgan
Brandy Norwood
Host(s)
Regis Philbin

I recalled correctly; almost every single change has been for the worse.
Of course, anybody you substitute for Morgan is a step up.
Springer's the closest they came to holding even.

And coming up this summer:

Judges
Howie Mandel
Howard Stern
Melanie Brown
Heidi Klum
Host(s)
Nick Cannon

Okay, who's the stupidest person ever in the cast of AGT? Not
likeable or despicable or good or bad taste, just in terms of sheer
low wattage?

I will say, the only person I actually like very much was Philbin. The
only person who would be a "plus" when it came to deciding whether to
watch a tv show.

Piers Morgan. He's dumb as a shoe.

I like Regis. I was surprised how much I liked Jerry. I like the Hoff
- I don't take him seriously, but I like him. I used to like Howie.
Brandy was at least pretty.

I'd pick Hoff or Brandy for dumbest. Other than that, I'm with you
100%. Hoff is a likeable lunkhead. Springer was really quite good in
the job. Howie is just too neurotic for me, but he was nice to the
contestants and gave Piers unmitigated shit at every opportunity.
