NBC Rethinks 'E-Ring,' 'Three Wishes' Swap; Cuts 'Daniel' Order
By Brian Ford Sullivan
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Just days after announcing its
plans to swap the time periods of its freshman series "E-Ring" and
"Three Wishes" next week (read the story), NBC has scrapped the idea
completely.
Scheduling updates released last night confirm "E-Ring" will now air
as normal on Wednesday, October 26 ("Toy Soldiers"), as will "Three
Wishes" on Friday, October 28 ("Military Homecoming"). No reason was
given for why NBC rescinded the one-week stunt.
Meanwhile in other "E-Ring"-related news, the Peacock has asked for
three additional scripts of the freshman drama. Said move will give
the network a few extra weeks before having to decide the show's
ultimate fate.
Also of note on the network: NBC has rolled back its commitment to the
midseason drama "The Book of Daniel" from 13 to eight episodes
(including the pilot). The news marks the Peacock's second midseason
cut thus far, the other being "Thick and Thin's" 13-to-six episode
trim (read the story).
As with "Thick and Thin," NBC cited its other already bloated
midseason commitments - not to mention its various pilots under
consideration for early 2006 - as the reason for the move.
Jack Kenny and Flody Suarez are behind "Daniel," a co-production of
NBC Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television.
I wonder how come Gabriel Olds isn't on the show anymore. He was my
only reason for watching this POS, and now I have none.
