Joking Apart was first written and produced in 1990. It was
shown as a one-off in '91, then a series followed in early '93.
Seinfeld wasn't shown here until some time after this. I don't
know when it first appeared in the States but since my one and
only visit there was in mid '93 there's no way I could've seen
Seinfeld prior to writing the first episode of Joking Apart in
early '90. The stand-up device appearing in both (and better used
in Seinfeld than in JA, I think) is a coincidence I would've
avoided had I had the chance.

Plagiarism is a pretty serious accusation for a writer. Get a
good lawyer if you feel like doing it again.
