Hey,

Ok, so, I have a bunch of AVI files (d/led episodes of an anime), and every
once in awhile I come across an image in them that I'd love to make a
screen capture of. But the only player I have that will make screencaps
won't play AVIs. Are there any free players that will play AVIs and make
screencaps?

It's an image viewer, but it does have a very good video plugin.

One more thing: Media Player Classic also lets you make screencaps. And
the process is a bit less involved than Irfanview's. It also has built-in
support for Quick Time and Real Media files. (There are also versions
that can play said files without Quick Time or Real Player being
installed previously)

And while we're on the subject...Kids! I don't know what's wrong with
these kids today...

Uh, I mean, does anyone know of an AVI recorder that's compatible with an
Adaptec video input card? The stupid thing insists on only working with
the software it's bundled with, which is clunky and doesn't allow you to
really get under the hood of a video clip and tinker with it (like
compress the audio from WAV to AC3.)
